a gibbled toon?
My toon name is patchy and I think hes screwed up. When I first started he had a con of 14. Now hes a deep gnome so he gets -2 str right. He didnt and now he has -2 con. ? Is that a mistake or what. ALso the hp are not done right. I had him at 2nd level with 12 hitpoints. 6/level as with a con of 14 and class of wiz
.... when I logged on today I get -2 hp because its down to a con 12.( so now im at 10 hp)
and when I level up to third I clicked ok on seeing that I was getting an enormous 6 hitpoints. WHOOOHOOO
coool lucky roll I think and then after I end up with 15 hitpoints.
Um whats the deal. and can it be fixed . cause i dont want to play this guy if it cant be fixed. Who knows maybe oneday when Im 30 th level ill end up with 5 hitpoints

Deep gnomes (svirfniblins) do not have the bonus to constitution.
Rock gnomes are the base race for gnomes. When you make your character he will have the stats of a rock gnome.
Subrace ability changes are applied after character creation like an item or spell.
Because deep gnomes do not have the bonus to constitution you receive a penalty to constitution to account for it. You should have +2 to dex and wisdom. The -2 to strength is left as is because both deep and rock gnomes have it.
Because these abilities are applied similarly to spells or items they do NOT reflect your actual base ability scores.
for example: suppose you created your character with 12 dexterity.
A deep gnome will get a +2 to dexterity to a total of 14. You still would not be able to take feats such as dodge which require 13 dex because your base ability score would still be considered to be 12.
this also works in reverse. Suppose you created your character with 14 inteligence. This would give you 2 extra skill points per level. if your subrace gave you a negative to inteligence such as with the wild elf, you would still receive 2 extra skill points per level.

Ok so that still doesnt answer my question about the hp I think. Heres what I see. I picked a gnome to start ( +2 con/-2 str) . ok now then I pick the subrace of deep gnome which gets ( +2 dex/+2 wis/-2 str/-4 chr) um Im not very clear on how this affects my con since from the start it didnt change with the subclass. THanks for the speedy reply too.

sorry didnt finish... the hitpoints have been changed and the character level didnt add the hitpoints right. I went from 6-12 down to 10 on the next log ( today) and now after supposedly gaining 6 hipoints i only 15. Really I should be at 18. not 15. so Im not getting it. HELP!

Okay, look. He DID answer your question. In the NWN, there are really only 7 classes. Human, Elf, Half-Elf, Half-Orc, Halfling, Dwarf, and Gnome. Deep Gnome is a subrace of Gnome added in NS4. Considering its a subrace, your stats will be modified. The basic Gnome receives a +2 to constitution while the Deep Gnome does not. So, in NS4, that +2 you receive as a basic Gnome will be taken away when you change your race to the subrace of Deep Gnome. The only reason you didn't recieve the -2 to your constitution at first is because sometimes the Subrace Rods (these are the things that add on your subrace modifications) are a bit slow sometimes.

for a wizard with base constituion 14
at each level you roll a 1d4 and add 2
so after 3 levels of max rolls your hitpoints will be 3*6=18
however, your base constitution score is using rock gnome stats which have a +2 to constitution.
You are a Deep gnome. deep gnomes do not have a +2 to constitution.

18-3=15
your hp is correct.
