Relic hide penalty

Post by LinuxPup »

Can that be made permanent (while in inventory) instead of temporary? Like maybe something u equip... Also -50 isn't enough of a penalty... Its not too hard to make a build that still has 40+ hide even with the relic... seems like -200 or whatever the highest u can do would be better.

-50 to hide is wicked...if it was permanent it would mean SD's couldn't sit on the relic while it fails, pick it up, use a restore/lesser potion, hide, then walk out like nothing was happening. if the negatives were permanent as long as you had the relic that would sure even things up.

I thought thats what true seeing is for. Both the player and original versions. To find hidden/invisible/otherwise unseeable people/critters.

First off, I thought there was a penalty.

Second, Hide is not the most serious problem with raiding, it's speed. When you got a relic you don't want to be hiding around the enemy's city, you want to get out as fast as possible.

i always find hiding is more effective. sd's can hide like a mofo and you can't even begin to find them. speed can be over come if you know the terrain and direction they want to go.

Indeed, who needs speed when no one knows where you are?
Bigbys can stop speed. You can still target someone whos running fast with a spell. If they're hiding, its over.

I understand all of you guys' point of view, but why in the name of the Abyss would carrying a relic negate your HIDE? It may negate your move silently due to its weight, but chances are if a rogue or shadowdancer has stolen it, they're not gonna be parading around in the streets with it for everyone to see. The only possible logic I see a negating hide is that the relic is entrancing to see, but the relic is hidden the little thief's bag now isn't it?

it may negate your hide due to the fact your carrying a flag more than twice your size...how do you hide with that?

You know as well as I do Deathdealer that the flag is only there to represent that the character is carrying a relic. It do not think it was meant to imply that the character had litterally picked up a towering a flag, strapped it on its back, and then ran off with the relic.

it might...i don't know what devs wanted it to literally mean. besides its an object that weighs 50lbs, thats like a big rock...i'm just saying though...do what you guys want, i don't really do relics.

Maybe it glows really bright.
Hey, theres an idea.
Have it glow so brightly that anyone who comes within 30 feet of a relic holder, including the relic holder themselves is blinded while within the AoE.
Now that would be entertaining.

I think that would help the rogue and/or shadowdancer more Mr. O'Dearly. With their opponent blind, they can disappear, or unleash a sneak attack fury.
