Continuation of the Relic System
The whole point in having relics is for the HIGHER level players to have somthing else to compete in ( as i have said), however i dont think a noob toon, or a non-epic one to be able and swipe an unguarded relic -- mind you this is easy to pull off in NS, our guards are lameMr. O'Dearly wrote:ah.. I'm pretty sure this would hurt weaker factions more than help. The weaker factions are likely to have fewer high level players and thus it would make it more difficult for them to raid enemy cradles.kingfatzo wrote: 4. make relics harder to get to ( such as a CR 40 guard that drops only gold slips and door knobs -- the relic being the true reward) somthing similar to this was proposed in a different post. This would allow for these "weaker" factions to have a fighting chance against a hoarde of invaders.
Unless of course you only gave the CR 40 guard to RK in which case im all for it!... just try not to misclick when defending

well then i can see whtere CR 40 would be a bit steep, and although it would be cool to give a weaker faction a guardian over a stronger one, it would be favoring a certian faction over another...

Yes this is a "flaw" that should be addressed somehow--some of the ideas i posted on page 1 may aid in this "problem"... More often than not the relics are held by the SL .... the AO and the LA seem to have them equally as much but rarley compared to the SL... this is where the system fails miserably, a noob coming into the server who joins the SL will almost always have a nice bonus to level them up very quickly, where i could be spending all day just trying to get out of the single didgets.....Milkman99 wrote:Yes get rid of it - its basically pointless Sl has all the relics or LA and occasionally AO - there has been a massive explosion in SL numbers to reap the xp benifits - without involvement ever in the relic systembut hey guys keep running around gettin me the relic bonus i love it
Regardless, this wouldnt be a good enough reason to scrap the whole system, but in some peoples eyes i could understand why they disagree.

Hmmm.... all vs. SL ?-Hobo- wrote:I can see some small use for it but really the relic system stinks for TC NC RK so i say scrap it milkman is correct when he says the SL numbers have gone way up since the relic system came along - and they already were one of the most populated factions to begin with.
I would be interested to see what effect the new domains, Gnomes in RK and fighter/monk/ranger had on numbers for TC NC and RK.
When it comes down to it i cant think of anything unfairer NC RK and TC dont have a chance of raiding a cradle unless u r all asleep and no chance of keeping it if they miraculously do - scrap it
LOL are all the yes votes from SL ppl

I wonder if we saw more accesability to these lesser-played factions their numbers jump up ? ( ferry in Gargoth, a ALE powered lift up to the surface from the Dwarven stronghold, .. heh a ferry in Daeron... as for TC , they are just lazy. --- obviously these forms of transportation would not be able to carry relics

as far as the votes.... all the SL ppl probably voted NO ... because in this poll here, NO means yes to keep.... and yes means no to not keep. (doh ppl cant read - and im one of them).

.... i dont know half of you half as well as i should like, and i like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.....

Well, I sometimes cap relics constantly when I am bored of leveling or gear hunting (like yesterday I captured all the relics for LA twice almost by myself).
What sucks is, one of the times we had all the relics and I was about to go and levelup, and suddenly the server reset was announced, and when I came back, all the relics reset to their home bases! that sux donkeys...
If the system is to stay, I think a few tweaks should be done to make it more enjoyable.
1.Dropped relic time limit -- Once a relic has been dropped, it should return to the home cradle in 2 game hours or something, unless the DMs and players actually enjoy all the easter egg hunting that goes on.
2.The cradle's home relic should be the LAST relic to leave the cradle...?
3.Alliance factions should get some % bonus if their relic is home and their allied faction has the rest.
4.If a friendly character clicks on their own cradle during a raid, the cradle should regain it's strength!!!
5.and Possibly, once a relic is captured, perhaps the cradle should be 'powered-up' and resist enemy attacks for a longer period of time?

Voted to keep. I know some people from NC or TC aren't over fond of the system, largly because they very rarely benefit from it. Well, that's what guilds are for people, build up solid guilds and take control of the relics. Note that the big relic powers SL and LA control the relics frequently because it's guilds driving much of the success (not just organized raids, but organized defense as well). Look at RK, early on they never had the relics at all, now we're starting to see their guilds pull together and start raiding more frequently and successfully.
As for tipping server population over to SL and LA, there might be some of that, but let's face it, these factions always had more numbers. NC, TC, and MA have never been very popular because of class and alignment restrictions and location on the server Then look at LA and AO. Anyone can join those factions. Or SL, that faction easily supports lots of different drow or evil builds. I don't think the existance or non existance of relics will change anything.
The relic give high level players something to do rather than chump pking lowbies of another faction simply because they're bored. The chump pking over the long run tends to discourge players from sticking around, where the relic system seems to have actually boosted activity on the servers as a whole.

And another thing — high levels have something to do with the planes opening up, but as soon as they hit 40 and get all the gear they want, we'll be back to the situation of nothing for them to do again.

The relic system is awesome.
Ill say this much.
Since the relic system we have seen teams working together people having fun and more imporntant there is really rarely people angry pissed off and being jerks.
I say this from my perspective. I haven't gone loby hunting since the relic system. When's the last time u say a area take over. I have partied with tLB and members from enimy factions during relic raids.
The relics bring another aspect to the game. A game is only fun till u beat it.
Once u beat it then u go back to randomly killing people.
U have jobs and now level 40. Once u get level 40 what is there to do?
I think the relic system should be in at least untill quests, jobs, and the server as a whole is complete.

I think it is fine as well, just needs a few tweaks.
Relics reset to home cradles on fridays, but not the score board would be a good one.
Allies sharing the XP bonus would promote the faction play.

I vote to keep it.
I don't think bitter feelings against SL can be a reason anyone uses for doing away with the system. Real life history is full of kings, dictators, and other dominant types that in general make people unhappy. However, these gripes bind them together in common cause and make changes happen. So if that's your major problem with the relic system, then those of us not in SL need to work something out to cause the sun to set on their relic reign... 'cause without the sun there is no shadow.

Keep it please. As my point has already been pointed out several times, I'll just sum it up real quick.
