Nobody panic. Drow blindness changes were put out there as a baseline to see how they play out in-game. We're open to suggestions, but drow should have some penalty to bright light effects. We're assessing the changes and will alter them from there.
Until then, just remember to use these:

Second for this idea, although we can play with the numbers. Maybe make them flat-footed during the time instead of dropping natural AC.I got an idea that might be more reasonable. for 3 rounds the character loses 3 natural AC, 5 AB, 15 spot, and gains 10% spell failure.
Basically they're having to squint and shield their eyes for a bit while they adjust.... daze is taking it a bit too far.
How about allowing saves to reduce the effect? Blinding could be a reflex save (ability to avert eyes quickly), daze could be will save, the rest a fort save.
Now if only we could get rid of Drow Paladins, Blackguards, and Champions of Torm...
Could there be a chance that each effect could avoided, and that the risk is reduced by say 50% if you save?

Haven't play tested a drow being dazed yet, but the whole thing seems perfectly logical. Otherwise, there is not one reason why the drow haven't rampaged through the whole world. If sunlight is supposed to give them grave penalties, but doesn't, bright flashes of light doing it seems reasonable.
Drow darkness blinds evertyhing around it for 1 hour/level, and drow have to suffer daze(maybe, if encountering those spells) for 3 rounds? The pity jar is empty.
But Flailer took it away, so be profuse in your thanks to him!

Well, I'm not sure how one would do it on a PvP server. I would say with my PnP experience that drow are sensitive to light and can be blinded. Should a low lvl cleric be able to blind a high lvl drow? I would say "yes" at first, but it may not work in PvP like alot of PnP rules dont translate into an online gaming environment where PvP exists. I'm sure some compromise can be made between those who play drow and those who dispise them.
Cheers.

Whatever the DMs do has to be bad enough to account for why everyone on the server isnt a drow slave (for RP purposes).
It has to translate well into PvP for all lvls.
It has to work in PvM.
the suggestions ive made
will do this, and the way Flailer originally set it up was great (just a bit TOO drastic)lordvan52681 wrote:I got an idea that might be more reasonable. for 3 rounds the character loses 3 natural AC, 5 AB, 15 spot, and gains 10% spell failure.
thsi will make them very vulnerable, but also give the drow/duergar a fighting chance.

the ideas and suggestions board has some good comprimises...i don't mind being dazed even...as long as i can have a reflex save to see if i close my eyes in time. it was the combination of all these together with no chance of saving that hurt the feelings of the drow. not only did they feel they are getting hosed, but some of the posts you can tell how out of hand it was going to get.
p.s. i hate you guys.
