Dontation Box looters

I would like to give a post to all and everyone out there.. for the past 3 weeks i have noticed that thier have been alot of DB looters...... like i found a player named "DJ" goinging into the DB box after someone put about 5 pages full in, then him looting it... hes done this not every day but for about 2 times everyday

Karto, there is nothing we can do about that. A donation box in town is that, Donation, to whoever so chooses to take from it, it's thiers. Don't beat yourself up with it. Next time you have a conflict though, please come see me about it, and from there, we'll take the right approach to dealing with it.

what i mean is like lvl 40's an stuff like that are looting it... i don't mean like new beggieners... i mean like people who can solo the stuff..... they take it and sell it

i know i've looted enough from the dbox for a port on the pony to go rez someone when i've been completely broke. only done it once or twice, but i didn't feel particularly bad about it, since 1) they were donations, and i used to donations to acheive a specific purpose and 2) i've donated a thousand times more stuff from my personal mules to new players than i've ever taken.

all i'm saying is that once you donate something, it's up to them how to use it. you cede control once you put it in the box. if you really want to help new players, do it personally. adopt a noob and show them around the mod. they always appreciate that much more than anonymously donated gear that they may or may not be able to actually use.

I have to agree with DM ex Machina on this on. Like her, I've dontated plenty of gear, and took newbies around NS over my time there. I remember when I first played on NS (first time playin NWN

) I had the same luck of having someone show me around. As for the DB, Like DM ex Machina say's once you put it in there, it's no longer "yours" to worry about. That's the point of the DB, and if you can't beat them Karto, join them

We have a looter on West that logs in, empties DB, then logs out. I've never actually seen them play.

I sort of agree, it really pains me to sell really good rare items when some one could use them, (i still use a set of g1 armour that was gifted to me when i was a noob) however the thought of putting good items in the box for some one to use as a cash machine puts me off a bit, but well thats the chance you take. Good advice is to try and find special items a good home, or keep them on a mule until you find some one deserving that will use them.

moral of the story if you need cash save up.

I tend to put a ton of ammo in the DB. I cannot sell it, have no need for it, and hope someone else does.

Well 2 things here:

1) if you care what happens to your donations do not put anything in the box.

2) If you really are a person that has to use it make sure you contribute to it later on down the road as well.

Maybe that person that logs on and does not play is just looking for a certain set of items and can only find different parts available when he logs on. People loot the DB generally because they need something. I tried an essence weapon and armor the other day and man the were pretty stinky lol

As a general rule, i, and most of GoN from what ive seen, rarely use the DB...i personally almost give all my Donation gear directly to the players that need and can use it. Just makes sure that the stuff goes to the best place possible and not into the hands of the looters as you put it.

If your serious about sticking around and have the gear to spare. Create a mule character. Make it a STR build and load 3-4 of the pages with bags. It makes us all look good if we can help a new person, in person too.

Mine can carry 3 1/2 tons. I get a laugh thinking of what he'd really look like with all those bags hangin off of him. THEN trying to fight. He could prolly blugeon the mob to death in one blow fully loaded though :lol:
