what is happening to this server

I finally decided to sit down and lok at some of the recent posts on the forums and after reading about 2 of them i am now utterly disgusted. complaints about DM's, PK ing, camping, etc.... Doesn't anyone have any COMMON SENSE, or better yet COMMON DESENCY? put simply:

1. the DM's are the DM's. if they decide to strike you down using a penguin, then you probably deserved it... they run the server, not you so stop complaing about them !

2. you dont ALWAYS have to kill the lvl 4 or the lvl 9 that happens to walk past your lvl 32 ... cough cough KST cough...

3. Enough with the ranting and complaining over the shout channels 3am in the morning (eastern time).... yes we all sometimes forget to click off shout but enough is enough.

4. chasing after a party of llow lvl character(s) your high level characters MULTIPLE TIMES just to kill (and waste their time) just isn't cool.

5. Power leveling, or leveling unfairly.. whatever you want to call it can potentially ruin a game for everyone. i am not sure if the rumor is true or not but if there is a glitch somewhere which allows you to level rapidly (from lvl 1 to lvl 18 in a few hours) it should really be mended.

I think im done, those are the only things that come to mind right now. I enjoy playing on this server and i must say it is well made and well maintained. I think everyone needs to take a chill pill and just play the game for what it is.... A GAME !

okay i'm not too sure on what's going on. one minute i hear that kst is cool with the dms and next i hear we are leaving. i'm not too sure on what's going on here. can someone explain this to me. i would prefer eithe havok or kromix to tell me because i need to know what's happening. as far as i know jar and i are going to stay in case kst comes back again.

I have been on this server awhile and I have weathered through the various PKers and they always come and go. The very first character I made was "Tank" from TC. Little did I know at the time that TC didn't allow fighters so my build was busted from the beggining. I shelved him for the longest time and started several NS characters who were free to take classes as they wished. Although leveling any of them was a pain due to Terminal Insanity's continuous occupation of the NS Mercentile district and Okies on the mountain. Even though I tried to Role-play through these devestating encounters Terminal Insanity was relentless in his PKing and many of the rules we have today are because of him. Okies however understood the roleplaying aspect of PKing and would just as often leave you alone or even come to raise me because I played along instead of whining. When I came back to leveling Tank again I found that the Ancient Roads had been invaded by [SLAVES] and no matter how I tried to get to Avendell I would run into them before doing so. So I leveled as best I could where I could around TC until I managed to be able to take out small parties of their lowbies. They soon took offence to this and would log in their epics to come slaughter me for this infraction, creating yet another PK rule we have today. The war between Tank and the SLAVES lasted thoughout the remaining days of the cluster even after Tank grew up and was able to take them out, their epics occasionally would turn around and attack my characters in mass. I then started a bounty on SLAVES offering anybody that stood over the body of a SLAVE 100k if they took them down. (Money was easier to come by in those days) I know this story may be better suited to the Bearded Bard but the point I was trying to make was that their will always be PKers and even groups of PKers and sometimes you will get along with them even though they do PK, while other times their will be nothing you can do about them but regardless of how you handle the situation if their is a serious problem you have with somebody in-game try and talk to them first (not whine). If that does not work then try PMing a DM about it. If it is something they are doing that is wrong they will have a talk with them or find away to make things right. Public insults and accusations do not help to strenghen the community. NS has been around for a long time and we are one of the strongest NWN communities out there. So please let us stick together and make this an even better place to play regardless of our individual play styles.

I'm not gonna get on sides, beause just looking at each side of the argument makes me want to vomit. Its just getting terrible, really. And this is all revolving around level 4 darkness in frostdale vs. ultravision!?! Its the DM's and Dev's house, respect their rules. They have put in a lot of time into this server. Even though I never really get along with Chase (lol lets face it, no one does ), he still put on the bounties and the great mountain quest for my group and the traps. But we do need some balance, Chase seems to have a hard time RPing a god (Tyr-God of Justice) correctly, and I admit I have a hard time doing this as well. I got a CN crazy guy, but sometimes I accidently RP my LN as crazy. We need to respect the rules, but DMs also have to work with the players as well to create a fun environment. DM and player co-operation is important, but if the players always got what they wanted then this would just be a copy of Neversummer 3.5 (way too easy to get level 40 and gear with 20+ awesome qualities in under a few hours).

• Unfortunately I do not know of the other occurences you guys speak about, but if Tyr screws up he should own up to it (he might have already, but I can't read all this stuff before vomiting), and if you guys are using possible exploits own up to it and stay away from them until the problem is handled.

Actually, I think the no relogging rule is our fault. Last spring, there was a lot of pking going back and forth between the Brethren and Zacho and Nomius, and there was a lot of relogging going on.

Well from what I see is that the kst cant take it when they actually get into trouble for somehtng they actually did. Mainly kromix and havok. When i heard bout one of u guys lvling at FD at lvl 4 i was like WOW!! now I know ur desperate. What the dm did to u was right and it makes a lot of sense. Seems like you guys were always looking for the easy way all the time and didnt like to take any heat. I know other players took a lot of crap (Pardon my language) because of u guys, and u were the ones at fault, so if ur gettin childish and want to leave well it makes me happy . Maybe u guys should be playing ns3.5, because i heard of ppl gettin lvl 40 there in like 3 or 4 days. Well have fun

Please see the above, both for the hilarious misuse of ROFLCOPTERing and b/c, as the Deputy himself said -- it is wise.

Didn't post it before b/c I figured this would get locked as well, but much of it still pertains as rules and guidelines for how to approach this problem.

One last point I'd like to throw out there -- without talking about any sort of darkness exploiting or other finge power gaming, is that some of the previous posts have talked about characters leveling very fast. I'd just like to say, as a cross between RPer and just pure gamer, that it is, with the help of a party, pretty easy to level rapidly. Hook up with 4 or so people at the Ice Giant caverns, especially if it's a melee cleric heavy party, and you'll know what i'm talking about. Same for the amazons -- given a decent sized party of about the right levels, XP pours in with little down time. This is, as far as I can tell, what the dev's were working toward. No more solo killing rats b/c they are worth 10xp a kill and, per unit time, therefore the best place to level. It's really neither here nor there, just one parting observation.
