Regarding new shapes

Post by Nemesis Revised »

my character is a druid 11, shifter 10. The new shapes are pretty good defensively. but offensively, the vampire and spectre is having a hard time dealing damage. merely doing 4-10 on giants. The risen lord is doing decent damage, but on the other hand doesn't last very long.

Perhaps the difficult thing about shifters the most is that they cant use healing kits or scrolls. Is there a way to compromise this? Also, i noticed that the potions damage my undead shapes since they are 'undead' after all.

- anyone got harm pots? :D

btw, i think that if the shifters are tweaked just right to give some amount of power (but not too much), itd be a good faction for players to flock to. Currently the majority is joining the mainstream (LA,AO,SL). Perhaps by giving prestige classes certain power will encourage growth and better factional distribution rather than favoritism. Atm, RDDs seem to be one of the power PRCs out there. The CoTs i hear are still being tweaked; i hope the same goes for this shifter prc and the assasin prc :)

Overall, thanks to the devs. It surprises a player to see new content almost everyday

The Vampire and Specter forms aren't designed to deal damage; rather, they kill based on level drain (which has a fort save); if you deal no damage whatsoever to an enemy, the level drain does not occur.

And if you think that doesn't work against the Ice Giants, try it against some enemies with lower saves and you'll be very happy  Otherwise, keep putting levels into Shifter, and the fort save will go up with your level. Look to forms like the Azer or the Golems for melee damaging power.

i will try that ma'm. tough being a snirfverblin heheeh. Btw, is there really no way for an undead shape to heal itself (not the regen). Aside from having a teammate who can cast harm several times? :P

The Vampire has Regen 5, and the Risen Lord has Regen 1 (of course, if the armor you were wearing in normal form has any regen, you get that too); Specter has no innate regen other than your armor, but it has better defensive powers to make up for it.

And yeah, having a Cleric cast Harm on your would be nice :) Although, I believe Greater Restoration has the same effect even on undead, based on what I've seen with Draco Mortis.

.....i think he wants to know if there is anyway a shifter can heal theirselves in undead form other than have a buddy there. no friends is a bad spot to be in if you start dying.
