arrive and die ?
I didn't get to pick a server. I created a character, elf fighter, screen started loading. Area with steps appeared. Character died. I tried to go back into the game, from the resulting menu, disconnect.
as for my hardware: radeon 7200 with 32 megs video ram. 550MHz CPU with 256 megs of ram. Lots of hard drive space, over 12 gigabytes free.
Any suggestions ?
Sorry no, I cannot afford a newer computer.

Eeep, I thought I had a low end comp
No steps at the opening, you should get black screen and a conversation.
But definitely start looking to upgrade, NWN on a Windows system: I'd go with a gHZ CPU/256MB RAM and a 64MB 4xAGP card bare minimum, and probably new games look at these as minimum requirements to run games at the lowest settings.

Well, I've dropped the tileset to 16 instead of 32. Lowered my computer from 32-bit color to 16-bit color. Dropped sound to a lower type, I think 2-d. Game screen is now 800x640.
Now I get about a 5 minute listen to something thrashing around in shrubbery, probably my character, and thats it.
Screen stays dark.
I have found a way to brighten my monitor screen greatly. Game screen stays dark, even though my character can see in the dark.
I only saw the planar shift sequence once. I'm not sure if I can select a server then or not.
I brought the new character up as local, and only then did I find the character had some gear.
I can afford to upgrade my regular ram, but since I have a Compaq 7596, there isn't a way to upgrade my power supply.
I have a 64 meg video card, it requires more amperage than my present computer can handle.
Am I out of luck to play ns4 online ?
Thanks.

I think part of the problem may be the server issue we were having last night. A LOT of players (at one point, as many as 50%) we getting stuck in the "holding area" and unable to move elsewhere. It's being worked on, but Joran needed to sleep - coding on sleep deprivation is not good.
To see if it's your comp or the module, try logging into one of the Neversummer 3 servers (Neversummer South or West). They have the same hardware requirements. If you can get into them successfully, try back in NS4 later today.

okay.
I did go to gamespy.com last night and I found Action and I found rpg.
But not PW Action and I couldn't find Never Summer anywhere.
Would the +connect bit work with Never Sumemr 3 ? Of course substituting ns3 for ns4 in the url.
Thanks.
And I do fully understand lack of sleep.

Yup, I put ns3.nsrealm.com and got to ns4.
But I did get a clearing this time. And saw some other characters. No transport module though. I did notice the sticky posted in the forums about it being worked on.
I have to go do some food shopping anyway.
I'll check on ram for my computer. I have 256 megs in two sticks, and I can have a total of 512 megs in one orw two sticks.

ns1, ns2, ns3, ns4 all refer to NS4 servers not versions of games. Since there are 4 seperate servers .... 4 seperate ns#s.
*edit* also dont use gamespy.com, their support and webreporting are awfull. Just start the game up and use the built in finder (also powered by gamespy but works better).
Gamespy.com is for gamers what AOL is for internet users. A set of training wheels that are badly in need of lubrication. */edit*

*Computers are alot like air-conditioners. They work great until you open windows*
I was indeed asking for how to connect to version 3 servers, not the ns4 beta.

Well, I didn't try to get in there until after I increased my ram from 256 megs to 384 megs.
But it does work.
