A Race!!!!!

In the interests of bringing entertainment to the people of Aetheria, the Dragon Mafia is announcing the first in a series of entertainments.

THE FIRST AVENDELL LOWBIE RACE!

Details are still in progress, but each Guild or Faction creates 2 Level 1 characters (or recruits them). Pays an entrance fee, and we then race from Avendell to the Silver Road: Bend zone and back. The winner claims a cash purse and the Faction or Guild gains bragging rights!

Here's the catch. The two racers are "Horse" and "Jockey". The Jockey is allowed to be equipped with whatever Gear is available to Level 1 characters from the stores. The horse wears only the clothes he came to Aetheria with. There will be challenges along the course and PK between racing teams is allowed. But Horse AND Jockey must cross the finish line! And to make sure things are interesting, the Dragon Mafia will provide Horse and Jockey with a limited number of res scrolls!

Because this is for entertainment, any sight obscuring powers are forbidden. Bets will be taken on a 1 to 1 basis (ie the betting pot will be divided among those who bet on the team that won)

Spectators will be encouraged to watch along the road but interference will earn you a spot on the Black List and probably the hatred of all involved.

A percentage of the purse and the betting will go to the Dragon Mafia (to cover expenses)

Time will be announced as will further details so start making plans!

Bragging rights, Fame, and Gold! Whatta combo! We might even pony-up some useful item for the winning team!

Interesting. The Brethren may wish to participate in this event. Also, since it is taking place on our turf *ahem* we will volunteer to whack anyone who interferes. If you'd like, we'll also clean the mobs out first to ensure runner safety before the race starts.

We're hoping to have two nifty items useable by Level 1 characters for the winners as well as a purse (which might be sharead among the winning faction or guild anyway)

Tenatively we are shooting for sometime in the first week in January so Stay tuned!

This is it folks!!

SUNDAY JANUARY 8th AT 3p.M. PST THE RACE EVENT WILL COMMENCE!

Entry fee per Guild or faction is 50,000 gp

20% of fee goes to the Mafia to cover expenses. The rest goes into the purse.

Two Level 1 characters (preferrably created that day) Will be brought to Avendell where 1 will be equipped and the other will remain uunequipped.

Mafia monitors will be present to watch horses who will wait in the corral area of Avendell and Jockey's who will go as a group from store to store. During this time only Monitors and Jockeys will be allowed in the store being used.

Each team will be given a number of res scrolls (for there will be PK allowed in the race)

At the signal, teams will race to the "Sillver Road: Bend" Zone where one member of the team (accompanied by their temmate) must pick up an item laid there and monitored by a Mafia Monitor. They will then run back to Avendell. The first team to enter the Avendell corral and drop their item will be declared the winner.

No interference from observers
No use of Messenger items
No use of invisibility or Hide abilities (kills the entertainment value)

Well, there's a sticky wicket if I ever saw one! Maybe we'll have to have volunteer res officials or something.

You have a week to post suggestions! I'd be glad to hear what you have to say.

We really wanna do some kick-butt fun stuff on the sserver that is creative and fun.

We have other ideas too so keep watching!

you can only rez ppl from an opposing faction if you are partied with them...so everyone would have to be in the party for a pity rez.

2 Mafia monitors will follow the contestant and raise players on a first-found-first-raised basis. One monitor will move on as the other raises.
