Ring of Defense
Is it possible there is an error in it?
It seems like it's a level 16 required ring, thou it only gives a +4 in discipline and parry.
The other lvl 16 rings, they give a +5 in 2 skills( discipline, taunt, concentration, parry etcetc) and a +1 deflection AC (witch is useless thou)
If i compaire those rings to the ring of defense, i rather say the defense ring should be fixed to a level 13 requirement.
Another idea is to make the planar link level 9 requirement (lesser planar ally) and only useable for monks, clerics and/or sorc/wiz?

which still means that when your toon is reasonable enough in lvls and lawful char of any class that you can this item that would not normally have access too.....and also protect yourself from bigby toting mages 1/day.
when death comes for you and you are not afraid, if he asks why tell him you met me

Well Ring of Defense is pretty close to useless since there's also topaz and ruby rings which give a +5 to discipline and parry and have the AC bonus becides. The AC bonus is pointless with helms and stuff that usually give a +3 at this level, but when a toon can wear a pair of rings that give a total +10 bonus instead of +8, why would the player wear a ring with a lesser bonus?
And I agree with hunt on the relative uselessness of the link now. The summons aren't really that good once you hit level 13 or so, there is that alignment restriction, and it weights 50 freakin' pounds to begin with.

truly.. both the ring of defense and the link are JUNK ITEMS now...
I know this is the ring thread, but if you think about it, the link was pretty useless at low lvls except to escape from being swarmed since the duration of the summon was so short, and then you have to get somewhere safe to rest and recharge it, and was such a pain for low strength chars...
I'd say remove the lvl restriction from the link and ADD it to the celestial plate instead *ducks for cover*, maybe make add +4ac to the RoD?

There is that, but few people even bother with the dismissal. And there's still the whole thing with it weighing 50 pounds. A tank with lots of strength could probably haul one around with no sweat, but it is really worth it to a dex type character with a fairly low strength, like say a non casting monk or rogue?Yonwe wrote:The link is good for Dismissal if you have no other way to cast it... Dismissal and similar spell effects are pretty much the best move one can make when able to break from a bigby's for a round... the main problem with it is being on your feet to use dismissal.
But, it's such a draining job that, until you've DMed on an NWN server yourself, you the playerbase, have got to cut the DMs some slack. - Flailer
