I. Thou shalt not abuse the Shout channel by cursing, blaspheming, or harrassing messages of any kind. This Realm is inhabited by both children and grandparents, moderate your language appropriately.
This one is good, but I do see it happen from time to time - and it's usually one of the chronic PKers that is wining about how X killed them by X method blablabla, or they yell profanity out of shock of 'actually' being killed
II Thou shalt not kill shopkeepers or Elvin.
This one can go right? They are now flagged immortal aren't they?
III Thou shalt not participate in or initiate combat in Avendell. Thou SHALL control or dissmiss thy summons and pets in Avendell so that THEY do not participate in or initiate combat. This includes the gates INTO Avendell.
This one is pretty gone now too since AV is nonpvp.
IV Thou shat not exploit known bugs with the intention of causing another player to suffer a respawn penalty. This includes the Flesh to Stone bug and the "killed by summons" bug.
I agree here, the stone bug for sure is BAD, but the summons killing is a bit questionable - how do you judge INTENT if you're not a judge or jury in a court of law? Some builds depend on summons, so are they not allowed to PvP?
V Thou shalt not attack players at the respawn points. This includes setting traps around the respawn points or the exits from the respawn points.
This is another slightly grey-area one, it's really BAD, but perhaps there should be a timer started when you die that must count down to 0 before you can respawn? This would make faction-invasion a bit more strategic for both sides. Also, I think more work must be done to the entire faction vs faction system since that is the main focus/uniqueness of NS4.
VI Thou shalt not log out and back in to reset spells or hit points during combat.
This has been fixed as well hasn't it?? I notice it still happens on NS3, but I swear it doesn't happen on NS4 anymore.
VII Thou shall not relog a higher level character to exact revenge on a lost fight.
What part of this isnt harrasment is unclear to me. However if you are playing a new(er) character and your faction is under attack, by all means, log in a character more suited to defending your city. For defensive actions only. Invading a faction isnt supposed to be safe or easy.
This is one rule that I see broken all the time -- I think there needs to be some adjustment to it, but it may require scripting changes:
1. There is no TIME LIMIT in the rule, so this means once you're pkilled, you can never, ever log in a higher lvl char?? What is the time limit? 30 mintues real time? 1 game day? The problem with putting a time limit on is taking screenshots to prove someone broke it -- can timestamps of some sort be added to the logon/off messages?
2. The faction defending thing is also another problem, can something be scripted to send out a shout (or a tell/whisper to all players of the faction being invaded) saying which faction is being invaded? say either triggered by a 'boss' dying or a gate being crossed by a hostile? This would make faction invading a bit more exciting & dangerous I think.
3. A shout to all when X player kills Y player would be a great feature, both for bragging rights and to have more witnesses for PK rule-breakers (as well as shout logs?)
Excessive PK will be defined by:
* 3 Players Kills of any single character by the same player within a 6 hour period.
Again, this is hard to prove without time stamps, but normally multiple players reporting the same offender will pretty much clear that up.
Anyhow, hopefully if this can be adjusted somehow (and in some cases, the wording simplified a bit) everyone will be content in the land...
