Here to defend ya mz, NS south was, IMO, the greatest place to play because of the okies. When you get rule-abiding zombies, life gets dull because all the funs chars (such as okies) are gone, then what, might i ask, are we left with? A bunch of strict rule-abiding players, which in turn lowers the overall quality of a game.
*sigh* but i guess the best part about okies is the fact that i can kill (or attempt to kill) another PC, and get a fun interaction (usually
) out of it
Thus a word to newbies: Don't expect the lights of heaven (DMs) to come out of the sky in a myriad of colors and protect you when an okie is running straight towards you, go back, get a few lvl 40s from your team, and kill that okie
(or die trying, you never know what items okies have on them)

Hi... quick thoughts... as this thread has boosted my ego by, like, 5 bajillion points... Look people. We're not on the server 24/7 causing "grief, strife, or mayhem". Its more like 3 to 4 hours of the day that we're causing "grief, strife, and/or mayhem".
if ANYONE out there thinks it is simply care free and/or somehow special to be an okie... think about this... each time I log on, I'm hunted from the outset... I could name a few characters that always seem to try and find the Okienaut and hunt him down. Mind you... its just me. The little 'naut logging on.
This happens for every okie out there. Instant hunted status.... do we complain? No. Do we give out okie heads worth 2 DM tokens? Often enough to keep us asking for the DM's to give us more heads... Do we get anything out it? Not really... No DM tokens, no DM gear, No buffs, no nada. On occasion a DM will chat with us. On OCCASION a DM might do something... but its never so we can lvl up quicker... or get more uber gear.
Do we complain about our situation? Heck no. Do we have fun? Heck yes!
I've personally been playing since before the server splits. My Meki Okie-lot character used to have a christmas robe... I've never really tried any other server because South has been too much fun... as an okie.
It isn't all cake and candy being an okie... I mean you think its fun listening to the King's shouts? heh. As an okie, I have to live with them... come on people. Get over the game... it is just a game, not real life. Let me repeat that for the slow types.... it. is. just. a. game.

I really don't mind okies who go about fighting people that are of similar levels, but it bugs me when a lvl 40 or so okie taunts people who have low level characters. What do they expect a lvl 5 wizard to do against a lvl 40 anything? Thats just rude, wait until im up into the epic levels, THEN start taunting me

look, I have absolutely no problems with Okies in general. if they want to run around killing people in city in the clouds, thats fine. other guilds do it and i think it can really spice up a dull day. but what is absolutely not ok is when the okies break the rules. the rules are not so stringent that the okies cant go around causing mayhem, but what they do do is prevent outrageously cheap behavior like...oh, say disarming someone's weapon and stealing it when they did not attack you. i think the okies can be fun, but i also think that the same rules need to apply to them as to any other player on the server. Am i upset that I lost an item illegally to them last night? yes. do i recognize that its just a game? yes. am i going to go off and cry in some corner because my life is ruined? no. Mz, just because 8 DM tokens are fairly easy to come by doesnt mean I should be required to get them again when I had already earned them. The rules are there to make sure everyone has some fun. The rules are supposed to be enforced by the DMs. Its just a game, but its not a fun game when someone else gets special privileges that hurt your ability to enjoy the game. A fair DM would prevent that.

Gil,
You may have missed it when Mz said Okies do indeed get punished for breaking server rules. Take a screenie and send it to her. Also, you may want to go back and read her posts in this thread again. Thanks.

As far as taunting level X when we're level XX... look... not all okies are level 40. Half Pint Okie Healer is in his mid 20's... Okienaut isn't even 40th... or 39th. Furthermore, there is no exact way to tell what level someone is online. None. So unless they declare what level they are, we're not going to know. As for low level characters meeting an okie... most of the time we're in areas that you need to be 15th at least to realisically access.
Yeah, we've been banned before. We've been punished before. We don't get away scot free, the DMs just handle it out of sight (and rightfully so IMNSHO). We go to jail, we've given up stuff before, we've had characters stripped... it happens.
We're also the only NPC's on NS that give out items that directly translate to DM tokens... BUT WE NEVER USE THEM OURSELVES.
Look, if we truly were self serving powermongers, don't you think we'd have turned in the heads ourselves for DM tokens... to uber up our characters? Look, if the server actually unites and comes at the Okies with any kind of numbers, we usually end up initiating a "strategic withdrawal" to "minimize principle casualties".
For all the characters out there with DM gear... I have no sympathy if a group of non-DM gear equipped characters happens to get an advantage on you. just like i expect the server to have no mercy when dealing with okies. And they don't. Okienaut receives NO mercy. I had a YDB disarmed the other night and the server crashed right after. I'm a recreational player, so getting a YDB back isn't exactly a freaking walk in the park. I have a normal life and I play maybe, MAYBE, 3 hours a week.
Unlike some other players... that seem to rack up tons of DM tokens...
Please remember... this is only a game.
and the Okienaut is only a dwarf.
that is all.

I know not of these blasphemous lies against the okies! Murderers you call us..Thieves! We are only the servants of the great and all powerful Okie God. It is YOU who are these miscreants of evil that you describe... You are the ones trying to persecute the disciples of Okie. Is it not our right to defend our beliefs against you pagan whores! Those that have fallen by our hand have always been shown the kindness and mercy of Okie God, and were always given a chance to repent by shouting out the greatness of Okie God. How can you condemn us for wanting to practice our sacred Okie Ritual in the holy town of Okie North or up in the clouds, close to the Okie God herself!? Of course we will defend ourselves if you trespass on our holy ground. Your refusal to convert to the power of Okie God will be your undoing BILLIARD....Just let it be known that you and your associates are now NUMBER 1 on the Okie "conversion" list when NS4 starts. (Just think of 100 jehovas witnesses on bicycles coming to your door but with swords and poisoned daggers instead of bibles)

Angry Bob has some of the old screenshots under Clan/History & Bullshit Stories on the BoB site. I lost a ton of event screenshots after a hard drive failure a couple years ago (including one of my personal favorites, the Bob vs the Brit City Guards event when the new Freds unexpectedly showed up with about 100 tamed attack sheep. Phear the sheepies!).Lokey wrote:Anyone have links to the original BoB adventures? These would be around the time of Bob v.
