Called Lightning
Called Lightning
So this evening I take my druid into Frost Dale to see how things would go there for her. Surprise, surprise. Called lightning doesn’t work against Arctic Wolves. It just doesn’t fire.
I was off to visit the giants so I didn’t spend too much time trying the bears or anything else. My visit was short lived.
But what I have noticed is that I now have trouble casting called lightning on server 2 on regular baddies and baddie animals. It doesn’t always fire. I find that at times, that I am having to cast called lightning 2 and 3 times before will actually hit.
Could you ever so nice folk have a look into this, please. Thanks.

Eva is correct; wolves have evasion (not improved). Silly Bioware thought that when lightning misses, it fails to exist in the first place ... thereby not affording you any cool animation.
Cast it enough times and you might get them on a low roll, but for the most part you'd be better off trying something without a reflex save.

But, it's such a draining job that, until you've DMed on an NWN server yourself, you the playerbase, have got to cut the DMs some slack. - Flailer

One thing that I've noticed when someone makes a reflex save against a called lightning (I noticed this first when taking on mobs of bandits) you will see a small little green dot above their heads for a split second.
I've learned to hate that little dot with my drow cleric.
I also queue up some Hammer of the Gods as well. That tends to stun most baddies long enough to wail on them in melee or give you time to run off, requeue to put in some buffs and take them out in melee. Though what strikes me as odd is... They're stunned right? And yet they can make a reflex save? Seems odd to me, but oh well.
Oh... You said druid. DRUID? Seems an odd choice for a drow, but okay... Guess Hammer wouldn't work for ya. My bad.

Which I did. Air Domain and Healing domain are the choices for my drow cleric.
I'd gone with that build mostly because I didn't want a cleric tank... But, instead wanted one that could do some damage at a distance and that also would fill the role of what I think a cleric should be and be able to be a healer.
Though, like most clerics she still makes a pretty darned good tank.
