A question about the conversion from NS3 to NS4
A question about the conversion from NS3 to NS4
Hey. I'm new here so bear with me.
I was wondering if there was much point in starting a new character on the NS3.5 server if it's all going to NS4 now? Will there be a character wipe when NS4 gets out of beta?
Also if I was to start a character on NS4 beta, would I keep it when NS4 finishes its beta period?
Thanks.

Iam certian there will be a vault wipe when NS4 is finished with BETA but my word isnt very credable(iam not a DM or Dev.) , but i can say NS4 will be in BETA for quite some time, so jump on in and start testing the mod , i promiss you will enjoy it. Once the servers are up that is

I believe if you party with the right people the rp here can be excellent.
No matter where you go there will probably be a mixture of role players and non... but personally I think NS4 has some of the best. Then again, I suppose I'm pretty bias.
A word of wisdom: watch out for the pkers. This is a pvp server; if you get killed by a player on an ego trip... just try to shrug it off...

While I have not been able to bring myself to play on NS 3.5, I can tell you that they are vastly different in design.
NS 4 is a low-moderate magic realm. PVP reigns free; Role Playing is not necessary, but is encouraged [and gets you noticed more
]. Getting to a top-lvl character (current realistic cap of 25, soon to be raised) takes a week or so minimum, depending on your dedication.
NS 3.5 is a high magic realm. Less PVP (restricted to an Arena, no?), much quicker to level a character (few days to 40 ... someone confirm?).
Basically, there is no correlation between the 2 as far as play styles. Regardless of whether or not there will be a wipe in the future, if you are interested I recommend you start a character. You will learn valuable information pertaining to the way the factions / tradeskills / PVP work within the mod.

But, it's such a draining job that, until you've DMed on an NWN server yourself, you the playerbase, have got to cut the DMs some slack. - Flailer

3.5: PvP on most 3.5 servers is restricted to consentual Arena/Forest of Losses fighting. On Midwest PvP is allowed everywhere. Levelling is faster, yes, but the speed to 40 varies per player of course. The most dedicated hardcore leveller with uber gear out the gate can propabably level to 40 in a few days, but not everyone is so obsessive. I've never had a level 40 in 3.5 since I get tired of levelling and prefer to play in parties. I have several characters in the 30 range though. :)TheBestDeception wrote:While I have not been able to bring myself to play on NS 3.5, I can tell you that they are vastly different in design.

There is no rule calling for either way to be followed. Sadly, most people follow the convention Zhorn is referring to ... that is, most people play without any regard to Role Playing.
However, this makes it more noticeable and more of a surprise when I do come across an RPer ... I generally get better responses from them when I attempt to interact in various ways. So ... do not be discouraged by those who do not RP. Do your own thing, and perhaps you will be rewarded.

hehe
lol i am going to do that aswell, will i get rewarded? lol
Leveling in NS4 isn't too bad either, even if you do have to do a new character once NS4 is completed, it will be only a temporary loss as leveling is actualy quite fun if you find a decent bunch of similar levels to party with, or even if you are a loner
