I have come to discover after hearing many “Shout” that they died because of lag when running away from nasties, when this is not the case.
There is a bug somewhere in the scripting that will cause a pc, when running away, to stop and turn into whatever is chasing them, as if they were responding to an “Attack of Opportunity” when there is no such attack, giving the appearance that "lag" is what took them out. This is really bad when chased by more than one nasty. This stopping will happen every round that your running. So what you have to do is left click your mouse like mad in small steps and keep running away going.
Another thing I have found is that:
If your fighting Big Bear “A” that you just handle, to Near Death and Big Bear “B” comes along, the usual course is to try to kill off Big Bear “A” then turn your attention to Big Bear “B”. Here again there is a scripting problem. When Big Bear “B” comes along you auto target it and can’t
change your attack back to Big Bear “A”. After about 6 rounds the words “Attack of Opportunity” will come up on Big Bear “B”. Unavoidably, you now are having to respawn because you couldn’t finish your attack on Big Bear “A” and two Big Bears was just too much to handle.
I forgot there's a third one:
For no apernt reason either in melee or using ranged your attack will just stop. You stand there looking like an ornament. This happens both when pvm or pvp.
These are the three worse bugs I have come across so far. Could they be looked into please.
I'll remember to post this type of info in the addy you listed.
Death by lag "Not".

Hmmm....I've noticed some funkiness with attacks of opportunity when other creatures join a battle, but in my experience, it's just been a free attack on the joining creature and then a return to your previously scheduled battle. Haven't experienced the running away thing you mentioned either.
Oh, and the proper place to report this is here:

From personal experience, I have to agree that attacks of opportunity (from movement in combat, not spell-casting or other stuff) are very screwed up. Sometimes they happen, sometimes they don't. When I say "don't", I don't mean that a tumble check is made--I mean that nothing special happens when a second monster runs up, except possibly an AoO later (I can't confirm this or negate it).
On another note, gargoyles have been giving me AoO's every round recently
That's fine by me!
