hi, i've just joined neversummer, so i'm quite eager to play, but every time i create a character (druid) and join the circle faction.... well, i get to the gates of melencia and then my screen just goes black and doesn't do anything. this has happened 3 times now... does anyone know what i can do about this? i'm running the latest version of NWN with the SoU and HotU expansion packs. my gamespy login is DreVan and my character name is Thael (insert numerous second names here >.<)

ok... seem to have gotten it sorted now. i was on beta2, not beta1

maybe the character name you've chosen is already taken? Make a quick character with a completely different name and see...

Ive faced same problem and can be certain my name havent be taken, this occured when joined to Ancient ones faction, after i was choose to recruit instead kept as slave. My char started to follow ambassador and while walking in jail soon screen went black, stayed for a while that way and then i relog and after that it just started to give in black screen "return to your last location" and i did, black screen again and again until i decided to disconnect. But if this is something to do with names taken then it should be nice to get know as now it felt more like some bug. :/

its ok, i got the problem sorted... i was logging in to server beta2, rather than beta1... once i logged on to beta1, everything worked perfectly

Out of curiosity: does this problem still exist? I.e. if you log into server 2, are you still unable to play that char?

Actually no, but didnt fix probably until next reset, cause when i tryid to rejoin at that time it existed and yes i did join to #2 instead #1 of servers and it worked.

I had the same problem, and, being curious as a kender, I tried making a character for each faction to see how often it happened. I found that the screen went black (I could still access all my menus) in every faction except Shadow Legion, Last Alliance and Mystral Ascendancy. I haven't tried the other server, but will do so immediately.

Shadow Legion, Last Alliance and Mystral Ascendancy are on server 2

Northen Coalition, Ragnar's Kin, The Circle, and the Ancient ones are on server 1

You get the black screen when you try to start a character in a faction based on another server, the screen goes black and it tries too portal you to the correct server but.. because portalling between servers is broken nothing happens and the screen simply stays black, all you have to do is log onto the correct server with the char and it will load fine.
