Yeah...something about +20 items, perma true seeing & haste, immune to knockdown / death magic / criticals that just kinda turns me away...
But I suppose some people don't like to put much thought into builds.

I'm killing time on another semi-PvP server with a Dark Sun theme.
Athas Reborn. http://www.athasreborn.com/
Well its a copy of a PvP server. The original NWN Darksun Online closed a few months back and they posted their mod on the internet. This one seems to have a lot of people from the old one on it.
People can opt in or out of PvP on this one. So it's not indescrimate PvP
.
You're even supposed to engage in some RP before you whack people.
Ah well.....

Played a bit on DSO waaaayyyy back in the day too. Thinking back...whoa multiplayer was terrible in 2001 (if you could get past the BSoD).
Haven't thought of a way to do opt-in PvP that isn't abusable/exploitable by even a half determined meta-gamer without rebuilding the server executable (for which the EULA threatens smiting and so forth). If they've come up with something cool, plz let us know--checking out your link.Zhorn wrote:People can opt in or out of PvP on this one. So it's not indescrimate PvP...

Nah it's an "honesty" system, backed up by DM's who'd probably punish repeat offenders.
Whats funny is one of the PK guilds offered 100k gold just before to the first person to PK someone else.... and there were no takers. And thats a LOT of gold on that server
(Server wide message go out when someone kills someone else - something I'd like to see happen in NS4). I.e. "<X> defeated <Y> in the <Z> zone".
Alas people IN that PK guild couldn't enter the contest or I'd have started nuking my guild party on the spot!
Ah well, time to create a new character under a new account to go kill those guys with! Hehe

I always kinda figured you could just do some nifty database type thing and either factions or just action cancelling with PvP. Never really checked into it.
Aantioch: Amazing what you can download on the NWVault these days eh? Granted DCMage is very good, I'll give him that credit, but lots of their "big features" are just stuff you can download off the NWVault and slap into any mod you can find. Their little DAR sub-races and whatnot.
*notes that DAR is a work of art and Demux is a hero among men*

Well Dragonsong then Demux, but good work all around. Think Primogenitor is going to release his area builder after he finishes running it to build a 10k area module
There isn't too much in NS4 now that isn't available in some form you can just plug in, we did our own everything so that the mod wouldn't lag and that we could tie everything together better. 1.64 lets you get away with sloppier building and still have the mod run ok though, wish they would have told us that 2 years ago
Action cancelling just isn't really workable. You could probably recurse something a few times a second per player and it'll work halfway decent, but I'd rather do something more interesting with all that cpu time. Plus it would still be after the fact.

Hmmm. Would having the pvp opt-in be for a week ? But no pvp allowed with x amount of time left unless opt-in for another week ? And any player character can defend themselves from pvp with no penalties.Lokey wrote:Haven't thought of a way to do opt-in PvP that isn't abusable/exploitable by even a half determined meta-gamer without rebuilding the server executable
Hmm. Probably too many holes in that one as well.
Ah well.
