I would expect wipes at any time until NS4 is final. It's quite likely there will be a final wipe when it goes live.

Yes I believe that is part of the reason for the devs makeing sure to mention often that we should "keep in mind this is still Beta". Obviously they also don't want everyone thinking that everything will work perfectly.

If past Beta's I have seen are ANY indication of what this one will be like My advise would be this:

Don't get attached to ANY character that you have during Beta
Don't get attached to ANY item that you have during Beta

With the number of complications that can crop up from time to time either/both could be wiped at any time!!

No I am NOT saying that this Will happen here I am simply saying what I have seen before.

For myself I am going to consider this a fun learning time, that way if/when I loose everything I will have fond memories and a better understanding of exactly how NS4 works.

I think the beta will be good for exploring areas and characters. This way when it goes alpha you have a better sense for what is what and where. I wonder how long it will be in beta though?

We are having some last minute issues with transitions between servers and respawning from one server when bound to another.

That and we think a network port on one of the routers keeps flicking on and off.

Give us a little time to iron this out, then we will wipe the testers vaults and open the doors.

--

And yes do expect periodic changes during beta, Lots of quest and area updates and tweaks, Minor gear tweaks but probbaly not many, and a wipe only if it is drastically needed because of a database issue.

just remember a new char means you get to explore a different part of the world. And yes it will take you months and months to see it all.

I'm probably going to play a Half-Ogre Barbarian at first, just 'cause I'd like to level quickly and take a look around. Be nice to get a feel for item power level, mob difficulty, etc.

hmm - getting down to just a few bugs now . . .

Anyway, once the beta goes live, I was wondering how long it would remain a beta (and thus susceptible to wipes and such). I guess until all the bugs are gone?

Smart move I'd say

After re-reading the info-sheets today I've begun to reconsider my character idea... Choices, choices! :)

Getting back on topic, I decided I want to try a monk/sd first. Been having fun with one on Pacific now (based on Zen's build). Not too gear dependent and pretty versatile.

I am thinking either drow rogue/sd, or drow monk/assassin.
