Dragonshape breath DC and dmg?

Post by TheBestDeception »

While adventuring as a blue dragon, I have began to gain a feel for the mystical breath attack. Upon examining the actual button, it says I am to do:

2d8 - 24d8 dmg, depending on the dragon's hit dice

DC 14-37, again, depending on hd.

Unfortunately, this does not appear to be accurate. My 32 hd dragon does on average 50-70 dmg if the DC 25 is not made...and if it is, then the damage is halved (or ommitted...curses, evasion).

Is the description to the breath accurate? Or was stuff changed for NS?

Non-Shifter dragons get 4 die penalty to damage. I believe for the PC breath attacks, first d8 is rolled then multiplied with number of dice(only 8 possible amounts of damage). Lvl 32 pure druid will have 14d8 breath attack doing one of the following amounts I think(14 28 42 56 70 84 98 112). So on average you will get 56 or 70 on a failed save which is how much you are getting.

I may be missing something...but how was it calculated for a 32 druid to get 14d8? And how about that DC?

dragon gets 2 breath dice for every 3 levels over level 4. At lvls 4 5 6 they have 2 dice and 7 8 9 they have 4 dice and so on. When talking about levels, the level is shifter level+druid level. IF you only have druid levels you get -4 penalty to breath dice and that's it.
