nah...the barnyard animals are lame. Except the fiendish chicken, which rocks even at lvl 22 :D

Having a summon that looks cool and is a healthy medium of fighting and protection would be nice.

The problem was that Dragons had the great ability of taking damage in NS4, but they also would do WAY too much damage (thats after they finished casting Magic Missle 4 times). So instead, decrease the damage on some of our summons so that they max at around 12-24 regular damage per hit.

Then awesomify the summons by making them really cool things, like an angel or something like that :D
I've tried fire, i've tried faith, and i've tried force, all I have left is hope.

There is a subclass of creatures called Angels.

The Astral Deva, Planetar, and Solar are Angels. You can summon them in NS with the Greater Planar Binding, Gate, and Dragon Knight spells if you're a good alignment.

Quoth the Monstrous Manual v3.5: "Angels are a race of Celestials, beings who live on the good-aligned Outer Planes."

are you sure only on good alignment? I'm chaotic evil and i can get various summons when I use my dragon knight. I'd get the death slaad, the balor, and even the solar. Comment thought: the solar is damn tough. it can heal itself and casts greater restore as well. It also uses a sword so its so much a better damager than the death slaad because i could cast flameweapon on its sword. I kinda wonder why the good alignment is too buffed. Death slaad's pretty okay though, uses bludgeon. But the buffed solar (does 40-60 damage) is too far powerful compared to a buffed death slaad.

Btw, the only buffs i do on my summons is a haste and a flameweapon. Too bad death slaad doesnt have a weapon to be flamed.

I remember reading somewhere that the Devs put most of the summons on random select so people could test out the various summons without have to create 9 different characters. ;) Not sure if that is still in effect though.

Okay. It used to be based on alignment. Makes sense. :)
