Factions Unique Prestige Class

Post by ColonelPanic »

In the Faction Information posted for NS4, you see that almost all factions list a few, just one, or all of the Prestige Classes as "Unique Prestige Class". Though I found no explanation of this, it seems to imply that for example, Mystral Ascendancy Faction Members would only have Pale Master available to them as a Prestige Class? Or does it mean that it is a Favored Prestige class meaning that if you level in that Prestige Class while in that faction, you get the 10% xp bonus applied tword next level?

Seems to me no CoT person would be allowed in the Mystrals, but whats the rule and implementation here? Is it a limiting factor or something thats maybe not implemented yet?

hmm?

From the way it was stated in a previous post is, that only people in the faction with that prestige class listed can use that prestige class.

For example only characters of the Ancient Ones faction can become a red dragon disciple. No other faction has access to this prestige class.

so what about Weapon master? Can any faction take WM as a prestige class or since its not unique to any faction, no one can?

If it is not identified as a unique class, then any faction may take it.

Say I take RDD in Ancient Ones. Now can I change faction to some other? (Yes, I've understood that it takes lots of time, but theoretically) Or will I be disqualified because I have a forbidden class? Also, can I join another faction with a class/alignment they don't allow?

I would say (and this is all theoretical at this point) that you COULD change factions, but only to ones that would allow you. The prestige class shouldn't count. And you would then be unable to progress in that prestige class, since you were no longer a member of the Ancient Ones and thus, no longer privy to their secrets.

So all that really want to get that Paladin/Sorcerer/RDD can, if they really want to... Drat!

Changing factions, once it IS implemented, is not going to be a matter of walking up to the new faction's leadership and asking to join. But if you're a Pally that joins AO, you can get Pally/Sorc/RDD without changing factions.

I'm quite aware of that  I was just talking theoretically. And there are surely better combos than pally/sorc/rdd, just took one of the top of my head.

Have we received any type of confirmation on what this means?

How are they going to kick me out of the northern alliance if I have been sorc for 10 levels and then do Palemaster.

Does a DM come by and slap me?

What is really going to happen?

You might find your faction rating falling more quickly than you would like if you decide to start down a path that your faction doesn't aprove of. Then you'd better find another place to call home :)

You simply can't take levels in prestige classes that your faction doesn't support. "Unique Prestige Class" means that that class is only available in that specific faction.

What about taking levels in a non-prestige class that isn't listed as a faction-class? For example: I'm a member of TC and have 4 levels of bard... how would taking levels of rogue affect me?

I don't believe that you can take the rogue levels.
