Faction question
Faction question
If a faction is not an ally, then it's a hostile faction? Just wondering.

Yeah, pretty much. Animals are pretty neutral but I guess you could call them allies in that they don't attack you. :) In terms of the seven player factions, yes, a faction not an ally is automatically hostile on login (partying with them will turn that off and I believe manually hitting the "like/dislike" button on the party window will still work as it always does).
If you tilt your head far enough and squint hard enough, anything becomes as simple or complex as you'd like--regardless of whether it is or not. -- A lesson learned from Stephen Wolfram's A New Kind of Science
Custom system, but the number of factions wasn't the limiting factor.
Currently there's 30odd factions (collect them all) and your reputation is tracked with all of them persistently...read it all here: http://www.nsrealm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=23

I would never, ever do that!Joran wrote:LOL, this is what you get when you just assume Bioware's implementations won't do what you want and go off and code your own without looking

Another Q on faction interactions..
I remember when i first logged into NS4, it said something about "if you catch/kill a member of a rival (which i would assume is any other faction other then the one i joined) faction inside of the city (NS) you'd gain much prestigue/reputation ect.
So..If a member from another faction gets into "my" (im assuming each faction has their own NS) neversummer, i have the right to try and kill him on the spot for a rep/exp/whatever boost? Noticed a few people logging into Beta 1 (which is my home server/faction base, im assuming) who were automaticly set to "Dislike/hostile" on the player list. It was mentioned they were from other factions.

Firstly, Neversummer City only exits on Server 4. So that is your "home" server, if you are a member of the Last Alliance. The servers (usually) manage to move you from where you logged in to the "correct" server without your being aware that you are changing servers.Wolfarus wrote:Another Q on faction interactions..

Each of the factions has a home city. Yes, if you see a member of a rival faction in YOUR home city, they are fair game. Reputation may not be fully implemented yet, but it's on the list of things to add once we get the base game running right.

Just another point,
remeber that most factionsalso have allies(the faction they share a server with), now they will not show up hostile to you, but you might(depending on your rp postition) might not want them in your city.
Im not saying pk everyone, just it has the potential to make for some fun.

ive got a question. It may have been said and I missed it, but if you can sneak into hostile territory, maybe even into an enemy city, are the merchants hostile, or will they happily sell you their goods? or, can yo kill the merchant and steall their stuff which would be all the more fun? heheheh
