From everything Ive heard from the devs/dms it seems that they are well aware of the dc probs with spell casters and they seem determined to fixt the problem... Personally I think this is much ado about nothing, in the end they will balance spellcasters/melee etc and nobody will even remember this debate.

It still has to be voiced.Thorleif wrote:From everything Ive heard from the devs/dms it seems that they are well aware of the dc probs with spell casters and they seem determined to fixt the problem... We are playing the game and noticing in the long run the spell DC vs saves are going to become somwhat unbalanced. We are letting everyone and the Devs know this. Maybe the way some people have gone about this has sounded like "whining" but it is just another thing to report. That's why we're beta testing, aren't we?

Pretty much. I Epic focused in discipline along with maxing my ranks (27). When buffed i have between 45-50 discipline. This means that even an epic fighter will have to roll 15+ to land a KD. Plus they have to get over my ACgarrykasparov wrote:I just wanted to correct a small miscalculation with regards to KD and discipline. At higher levels a mage who invests feats into sk focus disc and epic sk focus: disc should have little difficulty resisting most KD except those from fully buffed clerics and div. wrathful CoT.

Only problem is the fact that pure classing is encouraged....but I don't mind "gimping" my character if it stops me from getting KDed.

im not trying to defend either side of the story but casters own before lv 20, melee will own later on, a good caster might even make a good fight.
but if you can buy heal pods that heal you to maximum as you could in ns3 there will be no way to make PvP fair.
let alone when subraces like Drow come in mind with there spell resist.
just a guess but what if the drow resist does stack with monk? no spell ever gonna hurt em.
and tbh if we talking melee chars id be more fearful of a good rogue then a good fighter.
a str rogue with a fair hide and move silent, taking on all the sneak possibilities there are and a weapon with a high dmg roll any rogue will outdamgs a fighter.
saying an average fighter of lv 40 will do about what? 200 dmg tops? not counting crits of scythes etc etc.
a rogue can do over 600 dmg without any crits, let alone when a scythe crits.

The original post was not a complaint... merely a statement of fact. Casters have it ridiculously easy early in the game... the amped up summons just make it that much easier... but in a world full of level 40 guys running around with tons of heal kits, a caster really will be up a creek without a paddle... that day is coming. I still enjoy playing casters and I have a few ideas in mind to help counter this, but as a whole it's only going to get more difficult for casters to live in a melee world. I just feel sorry for the level 10-20 casters that run around with death magic pk'n melee characters... by level 40 that's not going to work.
Heh.... but Druids get a DC 100 Entangle spell with vine mine
But then that means nothing cos we all know druids suck
Anyway, the point of the game is not PVP as you put it (as in player vs player) but rather party vs party. Them melee folks gonna knock you down? Druids can cast vine mine, and get the rest of your party to kill them enemies. Seriously folks, the NS3 mentality isn't gonna work here
There are counters to every build and there is no uber build as we know it. Simple tactics such as vine mine, followed by darkness/ultravision combo does wonders
Remember, if they can't hurt you if they can't see you. Displacement or improved invis should wreck the would be melee'er's hope of killing you.

Druids suck? I have a dwarven druid that is a caster build with
14 strength
10 dex
16 constitution
16 wisdom
14 intelligence
6 charisma
My attribute points are going for wisdom so I can get more spells. In truth, while druids may not have the magnitude of melee boosting spells like clerics, or the many and powerful offensive spells of mages, they are a mix in between. Unlike mages, they can get into melee combat, unlike clerics, they can 'tame' wild animals and druids have their own pets as well as pet boosting spells.

Uh, what game are you playing? You need druid for shifter and rogue isn't available for TC.JesterOI wrote:Make your character 19cleric/20shifter/1rogue(max tumble)
I made that and had all but 2 quickslots used for buffs
