NS4 is supposed to be a player killing module where factions battle one another. If a character is not strong enough or low level, then they should stick close to their faction headquarters so that they are not slain by enemy factions.
All characters are free game if they are in an enemy faction. I check their challenge rating and then if I can slay them, you can bet I will. This IS the game and if people do not enjoy the challenge of it then they need to play NS3.
That being said the faction headquarters definitely do need some buffening up. You should not be able to solo your way into any town.

One problem is that many 'griefers' hang outside the very gates of town/HQ and slay newbs as they leave. Some cities just plain do not have "protected" newb zones. NS comes to mind. (besides the sewers).Stormwarden wrote:NS4 is supposed to be a player killing module where factions battle one another. About that killing newbies when they zone out. I frequently lay traps out on the double doors of Neversummer, and leading up to it, and a little after it, reasoning that most people just click on the door, don't pay much attention, and thus get slowed/str drained/stunned, etc all in a nice succession. But having guards that would disable these traps would be nice. I'd say ghaeles could possibly do it in NS since they're b******* anyway, and they could use an extra annoyance factor. But regardless, i don't know of any guards that really respond to traps besides running them over, so having guards be able to counter this, or a couple guard types(who perhaps would zone around searching for traps) would be an improvement.

if some idiot wants to attack a person 20 levels higher then him... he deserves nothing but death... and when they just keep comming back with their 1-hit-killable summons its just funny
I honestly think some of them enjoy the respawn animation.. but im a bit more liberal with my newb killings =P
If they attack me, ill make sure they never do it again. If they think they can pop in and out of noPVP areas (shops) then i'll lay a delayed fireblast down at the door.
They can just scurry around the corner and out the door if they dont wanna die.
Ninjalooting my drops ant trying to hit me = Death every time i see you.
If they are willing to attack or ninjaloot, then they are willing to risk death

You are an okie... what do you expect?Lunas wrote:i am talking about being level 1 talking to some one in my own town and some level 21 dip stick walking up while invis casting FoD on me and my friend
Dont give me that "but i dont cause problems... im not that type of okie". the majority of okies do it. its well known. and if you wanna be an okie you whould be prepaired to carry the burden that comes with them
No, Terminal Insanity will just follow you to your spawn and lay down a ton of delayed blast fireballs. I didn’t understand griefing until last night. I have absolutely no respect for you, sure if a Player Character attacks you you have every right to kill them. However, standing at their spawn killing them over and over and than laying down an insane amount of delayed blast fireballs so when they respawn so they are killed over and over is greifing.
I find this very unacceptable and I think we need to come up with some guidelines in regards to PvP at spawn points.

lol well i was killing the guards in the building, you happened to be there, hostile, and afer i killed you wou WHERE attacking me and summoning your monsters...
All i tried to do was show you cant taunt and cast spells at people 20 levels higher then you.
Had you been a run-of-the-mill lowbie attacker you would have gotten only one death... but since i had the courtesy to tell my summon to follow just so we wouldent attack your butt, and then having you cast a spell at me, use quickvoice to taunt (not the feat) me and then think you are safe in a shop...
I think most people know i dont run arund PKing lowbies unless they are sneaky rougues (i never trust them)
Infact... my summon killed a lowbie in Daeron the other day, so i appologized and loaded him up with gear, and i usualy buff up lowbies if i see them fighting Mobs
your problem was you tried to piss me off when i was already in a pissy mood.
anyways... i agree it was lame, and i dont think ill be taking it that far again...
And i wasent "Griefing"... that implys that i was trying to make you pissed off... you shouldent attempt to PvP ANYONE, at ANY level unless you are willing to accept death yourself.
Anyways... i agree spawn points need the same flag that shops have... So you can cast spells and kill NPCs... but not PCs

I cast a spell at you because you were hostile and raiding our city. It had no effect so I high tailed it out of there and went shopping (I honestly didn’t think I was safe in the shop it said party PvP). After I was done you were standing outside of the shop and you killed me.
At this point I’m fine, I was goofing off and I expected you to waste me when I came out. I even cheered, lol.
Than I respawned and exited the Inn, you were waiting for me and FoD’d me again. So I respawned again.
At this point I’m still fine…
Than you entered the Inn and FoD’d me at the spawn and than cast delayed blast fireball on the spawn over and over again. So every time I re-spawned (or anyone else for that matter) the spell activated and I was killed over and over at the spawn.
Here I am not fine, this is griefing… Your behavior is unacceptable IMHO. Is this what you are doing to new players that are trying to defend their city? You have some type of moronic code? I admit I took a pot shot at you but this is PvP and you were in my city. One death is enough to show how powerful your character is, and I wouldn’t have attacked you again after I respawned (my objective at that point was to get the heck out of the city).
You made mention that your behavior was acceptable because an Okie had done the same to you. Is this common? If so we must figure out a way to stop this kind of griefing at the spawns.

I did not say it was OK because an okie did it. If you read my previous post, you will even see me agree that it was lame.
However, I entered the Inn to kill the guards... the lowbie attacker was something of a bonus. I generaly dont attack lowbies unless they seem rougeish, an okie, attack me, or a known [censored]. I do this because not everyone likes the faction PvP, so i limit myselt to only attacking "Easy" or harder ranked chars, they should be able to defend themsevles or get a party that can.
You attacked me. As far as i'm concerned you are completly open for attack. You made it clear you dident mind pvp when YOU attacked ME.
Now im not sure if it was you or a guildmate of yours, but your mage in Menzoduran is pathetic. One would think after the first 10 deaths, you would learn not to attack a pair of lvl 20+ chars with your summon IV spells...
I think how you followed me around for an hour and attacked me over and over, made it clear you want to die. i'll now consider any of your guild open for PK on sight, even if unprovoked. Tho only thing that will save you is running the other way.

Like I said I don’t have a problem with the PvP, in fact I like it. I just have a problem with players that grief at the spawns. If it’s not going to happen again than I’m cool. You are more than welcome to war on any one you wish as long as they are not in your faction or your factions’ allies. The mage that was following you was the other player that came to my aid at the spawn. I’ll let my other guild mates know your intentions.

ha, I was just having fun , I knew I couldn't kill the both of you, but you were again invading my territory, so I died a lot.... all in good fun for me....I have no problem with death you see. What I have a problem with is you , and your poor attitude , and thinking you are the best player in NS, and making your own rules like you are someone............you aren't anyone except a powergaming loser.
it's players like you that will ruin this mod, and will turn off new players. I am sure that other "noobs" have had the misfortune to come across your path. This time though you picked on the wrong noob.
I don't care that I'm on your KOS list, BFD, and anytime you see me or my guild mates or any of the many friends I have here , we'll make sure and try to return the favor.

Greifing at spawns should be stopped. I brought a friend over to this server. An Okie spotted her when she was level 2. PKed her right outside Mateson house, went in PKed her when she respawned and then dropped a bunch of D-Blast fireballs. She hasn't played on the server since.
Where is the fun in that? Okies are all KOS to me, whether I can kill them or not, just because of this one incident.

Think you are lazy?
I once coded a 1300+ line library in C++ to avoid having to write 200 lines of code.
Bringing laziness to a whole new level

Personally, I have never had this happen( thank god) to me.
However, to make this much easier on everyone involved, the spawn areas should either:
a) be separate from any guards or high level mobs, because this, imho, makes no sense. Let the new player make a transition from spawn or starting area to their faction emmisary-or leader or whatever- and thus eliminate this attacking the guards and killing new players or low levels or whatever when other factions raid.
b) be no-pvp and have an area outside it that is no-pvp with multiple exits so that the laying down of delayed blast fireballs at the entrance is no longer applicable.
The fact of the matter is that multiple attacks on a noob will either discourage them from playing on the server all together-which IS bad- OR
encourage that player that such things are ok, and they'll do it to others and thus create an atmosphere where being a low level is suicide because you'll be attacked no matter what.
Just my 0.02 cents
