Problem with clerics is they can do everything and are better at fighting then a fighter. The have better defense/AC and better Attack/damage.ATI wrote:Hehhee. Just saying some dev's think it would encourage group play, so just give it a try. As for being a cleric. Yup...clerics can essentially do everything in the game...which is what tclerics are supposed to do. however, I also like to help people which is cool. Clerics should be intermediaries of their dieties, thus being powerful...the problem is making epic chars get to the same level as clerics later on.

I think it works if you don't have the mentality of an extreme powergamer. I could not handle Giants on my own (especially tree smashers). I grouped with 1 other dwarf and we were working really well. We were getting more than half the xp we would solo, and we did indeed kill 2-3 times faster than normal. I leveled TONS faster than if I was alone, and plus, the more people there are, the more spread out the enemy attacks were. I rarely went below half health in a fight, which is refreshing.
Synergy could go up a bit but I don't see much of a reason to give full xp to all party members for clodstomping a mob.
A good way to do this would be to adjust some cleric spells....Darkfire? I hear in the upper levels it gives +10 fire damage. That's an insane amount. No wonder clerics rock. Makes it 1d4 for every 5 caster levels (5,10,15). so it would be 1d4, 2d4, then 3d4. 1-4, 2-8, 3-12. It makes the spell slightly stronger in top end damage but the average is more around 7-8 at top levels instead of 10.

1) Conversation allieviates my boredom so I can level more. :)
2) You get more than 50% of the XP as I pointed out above.

The devs didn't take into account powermonger powergamers who are antisocial. I love partying and I see it done quite frequently. I solo by myself but i generally don't turn down an offer to party an area. I know I'm getting quick XP that way. Sure a giant is more xp if I solo but I'd rather he die fast and we move on rather than me sitting there counting when my first attack is coming up so i can time my IKD correctly.Vhock wrote:i can guarentee i can solo exp faster any class/level combo faster than grouping ... give people a reason to want to group... as it stands now the only thing i get from grouping is a little conversation and -50% exp penalty....

I find partying hard on this mod. Without a port to leader ability we need to plan to meet somewhere and if we start out far away and i have limited playing time then too much tme is spent looking for someone. I've almost got a level 8 char who's only partied twice (also because no one ever seems to want to party).
About xp, can the size of the spawns be increased for parties? More things to kill increases challenge and xp.

no im not a powermonger, i just dont have all day to level characters...
so im gonna buy a car... these 2 dealerships have the exact same car... one is 25% cheaper than the other but i have to walk there... the other one my buddy is driving right past... ... guess what one im gonna buy!
i know its not a very good analogy, but you get my point..

See you hit the nail on the head earlier in didnt even realize it. With the pure class gear that will be introduced later on, it will encourage players to not multi class. Thus alieviating all the added perks of the powergaming uber builds. Before you start harping on the why only pure class, well you get your perks from the extra class abilities. In doing so promoting the more balanced party approach.
There is nothing wrong with either approach, just dont knock one because you personally dont see the benifits from it. The mod is designed for many different playing styles and must try to be balanced among them all.

and before i hear the "Your anti-social" remark... i play a TEXT based MUD becuase i like the interaction with other people, im a fairly bright and social person... ive played ns4 for going on 3 weeks , ive been asked to party TWICE in that time!!!

Vhock, i think the entire community is ot blame for you not being asked to party very often. I've noticed that as a community we all have broken into mini sub groups. not necessarily faction based or guild based.. but there are certain people we become used to partying with and their playing styles, and when they arent on we have a tendancy to solo.. sometimes we get lucky and find more people to increase this group's size. Sometimes its hard to trust people enough to party with them wehn u are around lvl 10 and dont wanna take that 500 exp hit for dieing because of 'their dumb mistake' (powergamer attitude). ah well, i TRY to invite people to party with me, but sometimes.. we get top focused to think others would WANT to party.. lol.. though its always nice to have the cleric with u that can rez

Dear god, please tell me there is no pure class cleric or druid gear!TGPO wrote:See you hit the nail on the head earlier in didnt even realize it. Err...maybe some of that is true, but I know like 3 people in this game and I refuse to party with even them because of the XP issues. AWs POA server gives you more XP the more people in a party up to 5, and believe you me, everyone looks for group members as soon as they log in. Whether it is realistic doesn't matter, it promotes party play, which is the heart of the game.Qui wrote:Vhock, i think the entire community is ot blame for you not being asked to party very often. Easiest answer would be to give same xp for killing a mob in a group as solo, according to your pc lvl of course.
Then the next most sensical idea would be to add a party level disparity limit, if all the ppl in the party are within 3 levels of each (no more than 2 levels difference) all get full xp for kill, if some one is more than 2 levels below or higher than anyone in the party, everyone gets taxed xp for it.
