I dont know how often the db is accessed, but even when thers a lot of killing going on, it rarely more than a handfull a minute.

I think some sort of autoreward would be realy cool, but it should only count kills of similar lvl +/- 5 lvls pre 20, 10 after that, or evry one would do a run up ogre mnt with their high lvl toons to get their kill count up. Killing lovbies to be an [censored] is one thing, grinding em is just madness :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

Why would I want to count 12 hours twice? I’m perfectly capable of counting to 24, and while we’re at it, can someone go shoot named time zones. GMT+x is all we need!

Player death currently has a db call in it. (It's semi-direct, but think there's still some polling going on. Adding more info to that isn't a big performance deal.)

NPC death doesn't, and would need if wanted to make some outside accessible stats thing (granted would want a shield or paddy to build such, and they're not currently around). We run apache server for dev crap, so it wouldn't be asking the server to do much more. I don't think it's quite like nwn2 where the mini-map is packaged into one of the area files, would need to build that, but virus' distributed build doohickey might do that anyway. But don't have someone with the gui skills to make that happen currently I think, mining, take a web dev class :)

We can probably figure out a way to have you contribute useful web design without you being exposed to stuff that'd make you need to hate players and want to only build hogre.

I'm a DBA, OCP,MSDBA,MSCE,SCSA etc. done lots of MYSQL . Any SQL or functions you might need i can throw in some time for the greater good, Other then that I'll just keep killing I can keep count.

i seen something once that was a capture of in game stats linked to a nwn mods world. it had a page that gave how many players were on, lvls, races, stuff like that.

This could be the biggest improvement to PVP since the PK notify, with more bragging rights :)

I know a similar version from the "Heart of Winter" module. And I'm not really fond of it. They have even titles for killing sprees. 100 being the highest they give a title out (obviously without being killed in between).
I find it just silly. Imo it has no place in a mixed rp and powerplay server. At least I hope it won't be sending a message via shout.

No no, not in shout, please. I've played heart of winter too, and that shout is just annoying.

Probably don't need it even in the combat log like the pknotify, was thinkin more along the lines of adding another option to the factional books.

If we're going to do this I think we'd do it right and not rush it, which strongly implies it won't happen until I'm less busy, and can possibly get some assistance from people like Barg/Alka on the webpage side of the endeavor.

Tracking isn't hard.

What to build depends on what everyone wants. If you want web, then we'll build differently than if you just want in game access to stats. Add-ons after that aren't too bad, but nice to be able to build all at once.

I vote for a web stats page for the following reasons:

* Allows for better presentation of a larger set of data
* Not sure how an in game feed would work, but for web stats a single server side process that runs every 5 mins to export a JSON file to the nsrealm.com site would minimise load on the game server compared to a direct call each time the in game stats were made?
* Opportunity for a 3rd party stats feed, ie whos on etc as a gadget / widget / plasmoid, etc
* As you said, once a system is setup then add-ons should quick.

As for what data is extracted, i'd like to see:

* A PK counter per person
* A PK counter per guild
* A PK counter per faction
* A list of people currently on
* Relic status

Is that too much to ask? :)
