Tilesets all white
I have had a problem that is extremely annoying although not a big problem per say. In the newer tilesets and mainly inside of buildings everything is white. In fact I am pretty sure it is only inside of buildings that it does this. Does anyone know a fix to this? am i missing a file or does it have to do with my graphics? I use a GeForce GTX 460. I use a windows 7 operating system. IDK any other info you might need.
I tried looking it up and got a few different answers, but not knowing where to look or if they would even help I am now going to the experts....I hope
1.
To correct the problem:
1. Right-Click on your desktop
2. Choose "Graphics Settings"
3. Once in the OpenGL configuration page go to "3D Settings".
4. Switch "Force S3TC Texture Compression" to "On".
2.
CEP tilesets require both tileset hak 1 and 2.
IDK if i have both hak pack or where to look or how to get the one i am missing. and I tried looking in my graphics setting but i found nothing that said what number one told me to do.

Give us exact details. This is a bug I've been following with interest. Does it have anything to do with using a Virtual Machine / WINE to run NWN? Thats the situations it seems to have happened thus far.
Does it look like this?

yes. what other details do you need?
i don't know what a virtual machine is, but I am using a pc. And all i do is double click on the desktop to logon. I don't use gamespy to login.

I am pretty sure you do use CEP. Since i needed a CEP tlk file to even be able to connect to the server
Also Skara uses CEP textiles as well I think. But strangly it is just the inside of places that is white

CEP isn't used, so I suspect that could be your problem?
Try removing those files, also.

Re: Tilesets all white
The tlk and hak fields on the module are empty, nwn only loads that stuff if needed and you can have whatever you want in hak/tlk folders. Listed override contents are a vanilla 1.69, that's ok. Other way to shove stuff in is the patch system. What does your nwnpatch.ini file say (should just be [something] patch000=)?
Need to know what nwn version you used to install, win 7 version and driver versions installed (I think 64bit installs might not have 32bit versions of X that nwn needs, forget what).
These are windows versions English 1.69 and are in the install folder of nwn:

Re: Tilesets all white
i installed nwn diamond. I am using a 64 bit version of windows 7. I deleted all my hak and cep files....I don't know where the .ini file is....Patch folder is empty
only thing besides NWN Diamond that i have uploaded is the CEP. I have it updated to 1.69, and cep v2

Try a reinstall?
I have a Windows XP 32 bit install that I've just migrated to my 64 bit windows 7 install and it works fine, same with my straight windows 7 install.

[20:59] <Lokey> any reason why a vanilla install on win7 64 would do that (not running in a vm)
[21:51] <ThriKreen> ati video card?
[21:51] <ThriKreen> usually white textures means no DDS support
[21:54] <Lokey> nvid 460
[21:54] <Lokey> hmm. wasn't it something like vanilla doesn't include support for 32bit dx9 well?
[21:54] <Lokey> just install that and fine?
[21:55] <ThriKreen> some versions of nvidia drivers or cards didn't support 8-bit paletteized textures which could also cause that
That's just my hazy recollection of win7 complaints. Try installing the 32bit directx 9 drivers, but I don't know the specifics on that.
ETA: mining, this isn't ms help desk We can do better than just resinstall lol. Oh need to see contents of that ini file, just use file search.

Re: Tilesets all white
i tried a search for nwnpatch.ini and nothing came up....If i don't need the cep or anything but the game to play neversummer than i might just reinstall just to clear some space...since it all look like a mess to me...after that I will let you know if I have an ini file. Also after if it's still white I download the 32xbit divx drivers. gotta wake up to get somewhere in the morning so I will let you know tomorrow afternoon the status.
Thanks for the help so far

If reinstall fixes it, then it works, if it doesn't, then we need to go deeper. I mean, start with the easiest possible solutions, then reinstall, then do the more in depth stuffLokey wrote:[20:59] <Lokey> any reason why a vanilla install on win7 64 would do that (not running in a vm)

Re: Tilesets all white
I think I had this problem at one point when installing Diamond onto Vista64. There were a few options that I tried that made sense. The game is having issues with the texture files, meaning either it doesn't have permission to read a folder, or the texture files are corrupt, or your vid card is having issues with them. Here are suggestions from easy to hard:
Right click your NWN shortcut and look for 'run as administrator' somewhere in the dialog and enable it.
Change your video drivers to an older or newer version. Personally, I use an Nvidia 8800 GT 512 and the best drivers i've found are older ones from Jan 2008. Newest is not always best.
Disclaimer: permissions are ugly and can break things. Do not experiment here unless you know what you are doing. Find the NWN directory and right click and find the security tab. Click on 'Authenticated users' and at the bottom, click 'advanced'. A new window pops up, again select 'Authenticated users' and the click 'edit'. One more time, when the option pops up select 'Autheticated User' and unclick the option for 'include inherited permissions' at the bottom. Then click 'copy'. Give it a minute to do its thing and then hit 'edit'. Click the option at the top for 'Full Control' and it should enable all the options below it. Click OK, next, OK, Apply, whatever... just make it so, Picard.
This is what ended up fixing it for me, if i remember: I copied the files from texturepaks off a different install into my new install. This may not be an option for you if you don't have another install readily available. Which means...
If you've tried all of the above, chances are something happened to the permissions or the files when you installed them. Uninstall and re-install into a different directory, straight from the root of the drive, like C:\Neverwinternights rather than installing in Program Files or Program Files(x86). Those folders have weird new security in newer versions of windows.

Re: Tilesets all white
ok, still no .ni file. I checked my texture pak folder and I only have 14 files....do you have that number?
I also gave everyone full permission. Not sure if it would last if i uninstalled and reinstalled again.
I also enabled it to run as an administrator....I also have it run in compatibility mode with windows xp service pack 2.
I will check on the drivers later.
P.S. It is already installed in it's own folder on my C drive. Not in program files
