LA had a broken one that stacked with haste... taking LA out of the mix fixed it.

The current system is very good..

The holy warriors of NC on crusades, grounded by the neutral and natural order of TC.

A slew of evil in SL, with a semi neutral influence of MA mages.

Then AO and RK run the gambit of alignments, and only work together as a means to thier mutual desire for wealth.

This system allows more intricate roleplay options not just tween the three alliances but within each aliance itself.

Instead of black vrs white vrs grey. We have the entire spectrum.

If there is one thing I can take from this topic is that I and the other MA guys need to work on being more evil.

NC = Lawful Good - Law & Order: Special Smiting Unit
TC = Neutral Good - Hippies with sharp objects.
RK = True Neutral - Swing any way you want as long as yer short.
AO = Neutral Evil - Forget the Law, the Dragons are the law and you're not a dragon so don't worry about it.
MA = Lawful Evil - Obey and we shall bestow unto thee great power.
SL = Chaotic Evil - Stabbed me mum once...
LA = Chaotic Neutral - I might slit your throat, I might give you a hug. I'll probably slit your throat. I might do it while giving you a hug...

We could shift these around a bit, Cyric is supposed to be more chaotic, but while her word is law, Lloth is just insane. One could argue that AO would be Lawful Evil, but then that still leaves MA not Chaotic enough.

Over all I think that, no matter how you slice it we have pretty good balance as it is.

My CoT is not neutral - he has very strong opinions

edit - oops, the CoT I play most is actually neutral  I meant to say that even though he is neutral, he has strong opinions.

Regardless of what pwned does, AO I see as more of a neutral faction. AO are slaves and can be all alignments.

I'd also say a lot of CoT's are good, since they very commonly multiclass with paladin, but I don't want to get into that debate.

It's not about PWnD, it's about the dragons. The entire faction is nothing but dragons and dragon-slaves, with the dragons intent on making everyone from other factions into dragon-slaves as well. I have no idea how you can call that neutral.

I am one of few NC players that prefers making neutral CoTs and accepts loosing AB by doing it. And too be honest its not really because I am scared of smite good in PvP. Its for PvE reasons that I do it. No one wants to go to abyss as good character. At least not as melee.

AO has an interesting position in the spectrum. The dragon overlords are evil, but the slaves are from all walks of life and can be good aligned just as freely as they can be evil. I don't think it is a black and white argument. I see them as neutral because it is the slaves I am fighting, not the dragons themselves.

I've also never made a toon in AO, so whatever I say can be taken with a grain of salt.

Strictly speaking AO is dragon disciples, not dragon slaves. Anyway, once a good aligned toon walked out of dragon territory, if they were really good they would leave and not stay to serve their evil dragon lords.

:P But it's exciting!!!! As long as your party isn't annoyed that you get smited at least once on every map. Almost every NC character I have is good aligned. For rp purposes. I don't claim to be a "white hat wearing good guy" for nothing

Talking about alignements I have to notice how evil gets better gear options then good as far as I know. I cant think of any good only gear that can compete with succubuss robes, two helms from abyss with one of them being by far the best helm on server and bracers from abyss. There is some other gear too but this 3 come to mind as crown jewels.

But the good guys have shifters and CoT's which are just SOOO overpowered. Why nobody can beat 'em. Obviously.
