Sounds fun. I'll join, contingent on my schedule working out with the chosen time and date.

in reguards to Int books and the like, I can not see any reason not to allow ppl to preread before the event, It will actually help keep things in balance as each +2 costs 5k xp per read. With the killer crafting system here, there isnt a single build that cant use it to drop thier xp to less than 10 points if they do preread thier books.

The core of NS4 are die hard PvPers that strive to get every single ounce of juice from thier build. You will be hard to find a player that hasnt gone to 10 then read thier Int book and droped back to one, in this they just need to take it a tiny bit further.

If your planing to read multiple books, I vote get to 10-11 read all the books you can, and drop it back to 1. The truely dedicated or insane might even go as far as take it to 20, read a +4 and then drop back down to 1.

So long as we all start at one with none or very little xp (9 or so xp is not gonna make a diffrence in the long run). Then we are on equal footing.

I do love the idea above about not regearing at ALL lvl upgrades, but say 9 or 13, then 16, 20, 25, 30. Thats 5 break over what could be a 16+ hour event. Basic biology needs will have to be met as well as the regear.

I also like the idea that when a player reaches the agreeded upon lvl for next regearing, that they drop out of party. Maybe even have a one way portal avalible so those that reach the level ahead of others, can leave and regear and have more time for other necessaties. Then once the the whole group is at lvl the portal can be made two way and the timer for regear begins. Thats ofcourse assuming Brando and whomever helps in this event want to go that extra effort. Could just have those that reach the level, drop out and loiter in a corner, till the rest are ready.

So long as they drop out of party it wont slow the others from leveling, and our clerics will know not to bother rezing them till the break is called. My cleric will be ecl3 so will not be gaining the needed level any quicker than any other toons/players.

Thanks in advance to Brando and the staff for doing this. *three cheers*

Any race that gets favored class bonus at lvl 1 will start the show with 100 xp.

So, I don't see anything wrong with any lvl 1 in the event as long as they have 100 xp or less.

After reading through all the comments, it looks like everything has been hashed out and agreed upon except the weekend. The weekends of either the 11th, or 18th are fine with me.

Seeings that Shadowalker (Twig) has been the most outspoken person in this thread, I'd appreciate it if he'd write all this up for everyone to see :)

Either would be fine with me. If it is the 11th, one or possibly 2 of my boys will probably play as well (one currently has a pali in NC - traitor). We have 4 copies of the game at our house (2 for me :D ) But with either of those dates, I am in!

It might also be nice to have not only a portal to AVE during the breaks, but also to the planar store when the lvl's reach 20+. That way it affords those without mules (nonguilded or new players) a chance to get some level appropriate gear.

saturday.... Saturday...... SATURDAY.............

-September 11th year of our Brando 2010 at a time yet to be disclosed, tentatively 10am EST to let our Eurpean (pronounced Your A Peeing) join in, those of us on the westcoast will just have to wake up! Wake Up! WAKE UP!

-What to bring, a level one toon with 100 or less total XP, all races, ecls and classes are valid..

-Books, your free to level as need to read any or all books, but must delevel to lvl 1 with 100 or less XP..

-Multiboxing is allowed so long as there is a person behind each of your active accounts. One person per computer in use. (just like relic events)

-Duration, till all toons have reached 40 or Brando passes out of his keyboard.

-Breaks: There will be a 30 minute break for biology and regearing as the group gets to lvl 9, 16, 20, 25, and 30. Additional breaks may be arranged as needed by the staff hosting event. You must be back at the event site, only assessable though temporay portal to Avendale, by the end of the break period or your out of the event.

-Level Cap: As toons reach the level for the next break they are to drop from party untill all toons have reached said level. Consider it a bonus biology break. Regearing will take place as the last toon reaches the assigned level. When a toon hits 40, congrats your done, please drop from party and let those remaining finish faster.

-Regearing: It is highly recomended that each participant makes a mule to hold the gear they plan to use at each of the Break points. Guilded players can stick them in thier guild halls or post in Avendale, which is where the escape/break portal from the event site will go to. Non guilded players stick them in Avendale. A DM may or may not hold the avendale screen during the break to make transfers easier, if not there will be plenty of people there, find a Marathon buddy and help a brother or sister out. You may also carry additional gear on your event toon to switch to as needed. Most notably at the lvl 9 break, grab your lvl 13 keen wpn as well.

-Supplies: At your level 9 regear break please grab some RD scrolls along with your gear and healing potions. Clerics in the group will be doing all they can to assist in reviving the dead and fixing the broken, but they do this as a curtisey, so be ready to return the favor.

-Shop Keepers and Elvin: For last minute purchaces and healing potions, please remember that many others will need to use then, so be quick with your use of the NPC Vendors.

-Awards: After the event there will be a thread on this forum for voting, catagories are MVP Offence, MVP Support and a yet to be dertimined Most Likly to ______ catagory or catagories. Actual awards for these, if any, will be determined by the staff.

-Death: Untill the level 9 break, the only solution is to respawn and pray that a God will port you back to the event. So stock yourself with lots of cure potions to keep yourself alive. After the level 9 break all toons are requested to carry RD scrolls to assist when the clerics in the group are out of spells or dead themselves.

-RD (raise dead) scrolls: If you do not have a means to get several stacks of these, contact me (Twig) in game and I will be selling them at base cost to non guilded players, 6k or 6,000 per stack of 10. Guilded players have sufficent access. I will also try to be on 30 to 60 minutes (big yawn, if we start at 10am EST) before the event to supply any last minute participants.

-Relics: All relics will be held in LA for safe keeping till the event ends. And the staff reserves the right to resist any and all attempts to retrive the relics once the event has finished. Expect lots of resistance, cheesy or otherwise.

-Remember this is an US (the players) Vrs THEM (the npc's) event. Please leave all PvP issues behind when you come. The staff can/will - boot/ban those that cant follow this simple rule. Fun and a 40 are the primary rewards of this event.

-During the lvl 9, 16, 20 break periods. Players with a toon of those said lvls may join in the event, and are subject to all event rules, except those rules pertaining to the MVP awards. *edited in*

-Additions and possibly admenments to the above are the right of the Staff, so keep up to date via this thread or any others created by the Staff.

Two clarifying questons:
Q1 I assume the great and mighty DMs/shepards/leaders of the 24hr marathon will provide rezzes for the wee lil toons until the party clerics can raise dead or rezz? Can't read rd scrolls and cast rd til L9.

Q2. A toon can only be part of the event at L1 and 100xp or less? I ask to clarify a specific example. Say that I have a L5 or L9 or L13 toon (a toon that is on the proper level boundary of when the breaks are arrainged); can that toon join in or will be automatically excluded and only a toon that is L1 may join the Marathon event period.

Only a lvl one with 100 or less xp. It's a one to 40 event.

Below lvl 9's ur on your own as far as Raising goes.

Both of those questions were answered in Twigs post BTW.
