Reminder this is tomorrow at 8PM Eastern.

Looks like the first heat will be in TC/NC . . it is up to TC/NC to collect all relics before the start of the heat and where to put them.

Best of luck to you guys/gals in TSS. You did very well in the relic wars (hopefully just as well in this event).

I'm not a fan of this event idea, it seems like it would be way too easy to metagame. I suspect it will be a competition to see who metagames the most effectively, and the final outcome will have very little to do with who fights the most effectively or anything to do with pvp really. It's all about the metagaming.

Its a nice plan, but a poorly executed one. It'd probably work better if only enemy kills were counted.

Work better, yes. But even then, it could still be metagamed pretty easily. The simple fact is: it is very easy to exploit kill counts through metagaming, altering your factional strategy to either encourage or prevent casualties in a given map. There just isn't a correlation between who fights well and blood count on a certain map. In the current format, raiders are positively discouraged from killing defenders, and defenders are encouraged to commit seppuku, which is ridiculous IMO.

Ok, lets say my faction has 7 relics. . everyone is going to try to get those 70 bloodsplats away from me. . because that right there is a lot of blood spats. .
if defenders die a lot and mean to kill each other. . raiders will take those 70 bloodsplats away quick

Ok lets say my faction has 0 relics. . everyone won't care about coming into my faction, there's no reason to. . that means zero bloodsplats for you. . .

I really don't see how metagaming will come into this without hurting you. . . there's no dual logging so it's not like you can just run someone in to die while your "real" defender defends. . .
there's no lowbies aloud so lowbies can't hang around just to bump the count. .

don't just come in here tell me my event is [censored] without giving a good reason. . sounds like your just being a whiner, and if that's how you really feel about it please do step aside. . we have players here that want to have fun.

have a good day.

Its easy to hold a relic and die a lot doing it, especially with a cleric casting raise dead and resurrect.

Let me see you do it. . right now NC/TC doesn't have their 7 relics in place before the event has started. . . MA/SL thought ahead. . . if you can't get those relics then no one will raid you. . . you will end up with zero splats. . How are you going to metagame out of that?

We aren't. Almost nobody from our faction is here for the event so we are almost definitely going to lose. Nevertheless, this is correct:
especially with a cleric casting raise dead and resurrect.
Pre-load RD scrolls to everyone and get your SDs to run around raising like mad. Have a bunch of 1 hp toons running around dying dozens of times, easily. Once relic cradle is nearly defeated once or twice, get everyone back up to full HP and then wipe the raiders. I'll admit transitioning from dying to defending could be a little tricky, but the key is to have some toons legitimately defending, to keep the raiders off balance, and then have a few toons to sandbag. Everyone and their best friend has RD scrolls, so you can really keep going for quite a while, especially if raiders are waiting around to grab all 7 (!) relics. That is a LONG wait for killing the NPCs and the timer.

I wasn't meaning to be insulting and I apologize if I came across that way. It's just that this event seems like it would be really easy to cheese, as mentioned above. The only reason I'm sharing these strategies now is that I don't think we have any realistic chance of winning, so I don't care about the outcome.

I do really appreciate events like this, even though I am busy this evening with other things and can't attend.

What is bothering me is that it seems there is quite a bit of skepticism about this event and no input was taken from the community after concerns were addressed. I found the concerns perfectly valid, and I wasn't very excited about the event for the reasons addressed. Next time I'd like to see more community input taken, and I think we can have a very fun event that we all can get excited about participating in.
