Yeah, everybody's lost their toons. My guess is that the server is being moved or something, though it seems strange to do that without telling anybody.

I hope there isn't a server wipe. I haven't had time to level a toon in over a month. I don't want to have to start over

Sebastian (TSS) Doc - Rufio of (TSS) - Dagr (TSS)
Raijin {FoN} - Arcadia {FoN} - Geb {FoN}

Sorry, this was my fault. The most recent backup I have is from around June 29th. I'm working to restore that backup now.

Re: All my toons have been deleted?
i've been out all day and i approve this message!
Re: All my toons have been deleted?
That's seriously the latest backup?
I've spent the last 2 weeks working on a new toon. Now the 4 hours I spent today finishing the faction jobs plus the 3 books I found with him are gone?

Re: All my toons have been deleted?
Yeah there are alot of us that will loose alot, I had two weeks holidays that I spent solid on here as well during that period, which means I will loose about 4 lvl 40 toons lol
But at the end of the day, these things do happen from time to time, and it is all part of the game, as this server is hosted and supported by by definition Volunteers, I am just happy that the server is still alive after all these years

Re: All my toons have been deleted?
Heartbreaking.
So much time and effort lost:
My only 40, back to 38, and 4 of the 5 books she'd read and some other prime gear gone.
Another 5 or 6 books recently farmed or found, gone.
My 2 Master Artisan crafters down many levels and no longer MA crafters.
About 15 new toons I'd started over the past few weeds and leveled (so that I'd have something available to party with anyone anywhere)... gone.
All the other gear I'd found and organized on mules, gone.
My Monk/SD who'd lost faction defending her own cradle, then had gone on countless runs trying to regain faction.... back to rock bottom.
My level 36 cleric who'd just finished stocking 3 full boxes, each with 140 heal pots and 70 rd scrolls... back down to level 35, with just 10 rd and no heal pots in stock.
My daughters' only toons, gone.
I feel even sorrier for another player I know who's been spending every spare moment in recent weeks trying to build up two specific toons so that they would be able help out with raiding and defending in the upcoming relic event. They both had read 6 +2 books and were closing in on level 39. Now they're completely wiped out.
From a personal perspective, a complete wipe would have been better because it would be interesting to start with everyone even. I wouldn't wish that on anyone though. People have put far more time in over the years than I have over the past few weeks.
Part of me says we've just been hit by a huge natural disaster, and it's time for all of us to rally together and help people rebuild their virtual lives.
Another part says it's time to find a new hobby.
Whatever part prevails in the end, I don't have the motivation to play right now. I'm just too stunned.

Maybe the new server can handle massive spawns of unleashed balors

Re: All my toons have been deleted?
Well, a wipe would have been infinitely more painful. Consider how bad it would've been if you had no characters, at all. Consider if you had to start again with nothing, no assistance, no friendly characters dotted around your level.rodgrodgrodg wrote:Heartbreaking.

I would have welcomed a wipe, but only because I lack motivation to grind toons to 40 at the moment

Re: All my toons have been deleted?
I wish there were words capable of removing the sense of loss felt by those most impacted by this recent disaster.
I wish those who have put so much of their time and effort into their builds would not have suffered any loss at all.
Alas there are no words, no incantation, no mystism that will bring back what was lost.
Please, please know and trust that the community as a whole will help rebuild. There will be more leveling parties. There are still powerful buffers still in the realm to help rebuild lost new builds. There are those willing to help seek out replacement items. There will be future planar runs.
Will cross faction help one another, that only time will tell. Please be comforted that there are people in all factions, in all guilds that will help whether it be for one of their own or only a faction member. There are many veterans around with stables filled with caplable builds to help those most impacted by this recent event.
I my memory, this is a vary rare event and has not happened in an age. Be comforted that those that volunteer their time to create and maintain this world take the time to back up the server vault and work so diligently to restore what they are capable of restoring. So many other realms don't bother. I realize this may be of little comfort to those who suffered a great loss. But this is an extremely rare event.
Be thankful the realm yet still exists, take comfort in your friends and allies who I have no doubt will lend what aid they are capable. Take forward the lessons and wisdom learned from those lost days, rebuild better than what was first achieved.
Items can be re-found. Tomes will drop again. XP can be regained. Friendships made during those lost days persist still. Memories of battles won or well faught linger still. In that not all is lost.
