Uniques
Re: Uniques
I like the idea of uniques being rare, the problem is that most of them aren't even any good, in fact I have seen very few uniques that I would even use. If the drop rate was increased, a good unique might actually drop, and it will still be an extremely rare piece. All uniques are going to be one of a kind anyway, because the properties are random, so the odds of 2 identical uniques dropping will be highly improbable, even with an increased drop rate.

Re: Uniques
you'd be suprised how many of them are actually the same....because of the "randomness" of the engine
Re: Uniques
I don't like the idea of having them appear differently before you can ID them, but it might be possible to highlight identified items... I'll check. Lokey can we use color codes on item names?Would be great if unique items would show up as a different color on the item text (ie like Diablo II) even when unidentified. That way you would know straight up that it's something worth taking. Not sure if this is possible without a hak.

Re: Uniques
It would be neat to be able to tell that something is unique without having to identify it, but then I wonder if that defeats the attraction of putting a few skill points into lore and luggin around an imbued mithril winged helm.

I agree... the uniques are one of many little things that reward players for playing outside the box.cRaZy8or5e wrote:It would be neat to be able to tell that something is unique without having to identify it, but then I wonder if that defeats the attraction of putting a few skill points into lore and luggin around an imbued mithril winged helm.
What might be interstign as a test.. is a scripted shout triggered when an unid unique vanishes as the area they drop in is left behind untouched. IE a party passes from zon city to the south, the city map becoming vacant, shout goes off "A Unique was just lost in Amazon City"

I like this
It'll make players think twice about leaving all that loot behind

I was in the Icy Crypts a couple months ago and noticed that when I got to UE, he had 2 different colored kukri's (usually both are white - cold). This time one was green (acid). After I killed him I got a unique Blade of Unknown Evil that had acid instead of cold damage. I thought it was pretty cool that I could see the unique item before he dropped it...

Pup says it creates it on death, yet we have proof of some being created when the creature spawns.
Which is it?
Re: Uniques
Pup said that it is created when the creature sees you. That on death creation was specifically directed towards the question of what happens if you kill a creature before it sees you (assassin death attack being the example)

Re: Uniques
its calculated as soon as loot is spawned on the creature. which would be the seeing you part.

I had the same thing happen to me last night, except in my case it was a fire kukri.weasel423 wrote:I was in the Icy Crypts a couple months ago and noticed that when I got to UE, he had 2 different colored kukri's (usually both are white - cold).
