Does anyone else NEVER find unique items or am I just unlucky? I'm sure there are plenty of unique lowbie items that i am not iding though...

Another question. A guild member a while back got a unique item packed with multiple insane bonuses that aren't supposed to even exist on this server (which he then turned over to a dm). Has this been resolved or are there super-insanely-overpowered unique items floating around out there?

They are rare - I can only name 3 I've seen since they were implemented. One I didn't pick up, no lore on that toon, but Helm appeared from on high to show me what I had missed (Amazon heavy flail with UV 1/day - pretty neat, I use it a fair bit).

Since low level loot drops more frequently, most uniques are low level.. and they tend to not get cool bonuses on them. That said, players pass by unique items all the time... I mean just about every day I think. The DMs get a message whenever a unique item is created and I see them fairly often whenever I'm on. I've been thinking of upping the unique % for ligher level stuff, while keeping the unique item bonus % somewhat where it is now for balance reasons... don't want everyone with vorpal chanter blades and other such badassery.

Rufio if your refering to the NPC Dancing Halbred twig found, it technically wasnt a unique but a NPC skin that shoulndt have ever droped. And yea your right, it was truely insane.

How bout just uping the drop rate.i been doing planes ever nite for like two weeks for 4 to 5 hours at a time. We don't even get loot for everyone in the party to get something and i'm talking party's of 4 players maybe 1 drop ever 3 hours.

Yeah that was a bug which I think I fixed. The halberd shouldn't have been equippable anyway fortunately... gave immunity to level 1-9 spells and immunity to crits/mind effects/kd/etc...

I just want to pipe in on the opposite side of the fence and say that I've had a fair amount of Unique drops. Not a massive amount, but unique Queen Malice armor, Unique Mole King Rags, unique lowbie rings (which is hilarious because you get +5 concetration on a ring that should have +5 disciple or something like that). The toughest part about unique to me is that the item attribute that gets changed usually isn't better than the original (mole king rags had +7 UMD instead of MS). I don't know if a higher drop rate is a good solution or not, because its random and theoretically you could get a bunch of badassness.

I've taken most of mine to the anvil...

Yeah I've seen some funny unique items... +7 hide on heavy plate armor, etc. Feel free to drop it in the anvil if you don't like them :wink: The amount of combinations of possible weird things is staggering. I put some checks in for things that make no sense (for example ambidexterity feat on a two-handed weapon is no good, unless its double-sided), but there's going to be inferior things.

Like the White Robes I saw that gave posi Vulnerability :lol: .

As to loot rate, it tends towards very low, especially in Abyss. Celestia is almost as bad, DWP tends to be ~ok given the bosses that are likely to drop stuff. Posi etc. drop well enough.

I agree in voting that unique drops be kept as is.

They're unique for a reason. Let's keep it that way.

I've a few questions:

* Can any item spawn as unique?
* Is there a formula to the drop rate that you can share?

Would be great if unique items would show up as a different color on the item text (ie like Diablo II) even when unidentified. That way you would know straight up that it's something worth taking. Not sure if this is possible without a hak.

I think its possible, or at least possible to change the appearance of the item... Or at least I've seen a Diablo server where they do that w/o haks.

Most items, but not all... if the item has no itemproperties (like junk trinkets or vanilla weapons/armor) then its not eligible.

I won't share the "formula" for generating unique artifacts :D
