I agree Vaga. It did seem like in past events that 6 (7 with LA) MVP were offered. Maybe they are trying to make it more prestigious and thus might actually offer a bit nicer prize. The reduction of the prize to being 'any 30 level item except the rare ones' isn't really fitting. not that I wouldn't be thankful but its not like your going to say, "Dude, look what i won for being MVP!! - A Hope Crusher!!" Anyone capable enough (and popular enough) will probably already have one.

Mostly the MVP award is just a real validation from your peers of a 'job well done'. If limiting the winners changes that then great. Otherwise, why not have one from each faction. We're being a bit unorthodox with our voting because really we are voting for the two folks that really stood out.

Personally the one that created the most "problems" for AO/RK opponents would have to be Bingo tlb, so he gets an honorable mention from me.

But since its just AO built toons I would have to give my vote to hellraizer's You Got PWnD. He actually turned quite a few battles by himself.

SL, well, tough to say here as well, lots of good players who all contributed greatly. I think Bargeld, even though he turned around and came back to Sleeth while running a relic, *shakes head in amusment* and got hisself perished ;), he still gets my vote for SL. For sportsmanship, and determination, hard to beat Bargeld. But could put any number of IO/DD players here, they all made a great showing when they could actually get on and play and I hope to see them more often.

Other honorable mentions; out of TC, yeah Carlie rocked the house. Don't want to take anything away from her.
MA, Zerg put in a lot of time and racked up a ton of kills. NC, Shamed put in as much effort as anyone on the server just for the pure joy of getting to pvp. We in FoN are glad to have him back.

I do not wish to steal your idea of humor, AO/RK, but there will be 2 MVP's.

1 from AO , and 1 from SL.

I believe there were difficulties experienced by the SL/MA coalition during the beggining of the war, that resulted in some of the players not wanting to continue the war effort.

Perhaps, the next Relic Defender War will go a little better.

It was actually a tough weekend as many players had plans in RL and could not make it on much. There are many players that could be mentioned from many factions.

SL had a good showing of DD and IO, as well as non-tagged players. The vote would go between Bergeld and Pappy. If I had to chose one I would say Bergeld for the relic running.. even if he did run one back to AO for them.

TC, NC, MA, all deserve a loud shout out as Zerg, Shamed, Bolg, Carlie, and many others rallied.

AO... well.. I am not really sure. The Devs should be named MVP there. RK for the most part, such as Bingo, did most of the noticeable work. My vote for AO goes to Grunt Moor.

SL would have gotten rolled over without MA, TC, and NC. Every faction should get an MVP here, and at the very least RK and and MA should get MVPs as well as SL and AO.
I have always imagined that when shamed prepares for relic events, he grabs his bull horn, he finds his Napoleon hat, and he settles in for a weekend of barking orders and generally pissing off everyone in the tc/nc coalition. - Burrahobbit

Thanks all for the vote of confidence... lol even if I did run a relic back into Sleeth. The story behind that one is quite the tale...

Snatch and run, made it out to the compound, trailed by 4 AO defenders. As I clear the last central building headin to the eye, a NEB hits me from around the corner (gotta love when those straight line spells do a curve round the corners and get ya!) So now I'm crawling out to the dragon eye with at least 4 on me now, 'running' at 50% monk speed (which is 100% run for the regular folx).

I make it out of the compound, out of dragons eye, and into the foothills. This is when I fully realize that I am not gonna make it back to menzo with it (with the 4+ defenders already taking swings at me.) So I turn around and run back through the eye, back into the compound, the whole time yelling in party that I need a GR or neut pois. I finally make it back to the front doors to the cradle room, when I crashed due to a graphics issue. I never actually died!

Unfortunately, I had a busy weekend and couldn't play as much as I would have liked. Honestly, I thought the event was to be postponed due to the recent changes due to a dev/dm post somewhere about having extra time to previde input on the changes, but I guess I mis-understood that post.

I will refrain from posting any MVPs because a) i didn't really play all that much over the weekend and b) in all honesty, I don't remember any one person on any side who made a major contribution without the help of their teammates, as this was by far the biggest team event I have been involved with (18 AO players vs about 12-14 SL/MA/TC/NC).

Congratulations to AO (and RK even though apparently you did not participate) you put up a good deface
Dalan wrote:A reward will be given to the MVP of each faction actively involved in relic warfare. (A player vote in the forums will determine MVP's)
Hope you can forgive the misunderstanding here but I was under the impression that being involved with relic warfare would mean the pvp killing and getting kill that is necessary to get relics out of a hostile city or keep them in there.

I my self spent a lot of time over the course of the event involved in pvp trying to wrestle relics out of Sleeth. Which we finely managed to do on Sunday with people from every faction involved on one side AO and RK on the other, SL TC MA and NC. They were taken to SL because they were the only other faction who had managed to grab any relics at the start of the event. The first couple of minuets be for AO could gobble up them all.

My understanding the only way the other factions could have gotten any caps during this event would have been to get them in the first minuet as there were so many AO and RK around there was no faction strong enough to take them on. As I said it took every other faction and the best part of two days to get four out of AO.

For you to tell about half the server that they did not get actively involved in relic warfare is a little bit insulting and hardly provides much intensive for me to bother trying to get involved in another 'Defenders of the Relic event'.

Any way what would I know I apparently did not get involved I only killed and got killed by some players in MA, AO and SL over the weekend I also will not vote for MVPs as I played MA the whole weekend and there for was apparently not involved.

Er.. If you mean our nominations, those are sincere. we chose the two people we honestly feel are most deserving.

I honesty think MVP's should be chosen from each faction. All the factions united and worked hard together with a common goal. MA, NC, and TC were a huge part in the relic event, and they should receive credit. SL could not have scored even half of the points had it not been for their assistance.

Even if it doesn't count my votes for the other factions are:

MA - Zerg's toons under the GoDS tag.
TC - Carlie Moon TSS
NC - Shamed FoN

Please do not discount these players as they were around all weekend and put in a valiant effort. They should not be penalized for trying to be part of a team and a team decision. They deserve recognition.

I looked these up. So I thought I would just post the links. The history of this incidently documents just how historied this event is. And Dalan's continued involvement organizing it. Thank you Dalan.

- A reward will be given to the MVP of each faction actively involved in relic warfare.

I'm not trying to stir the pot on my own behalf but really this event had a ton of great players "actively involved." I feel bad that Moon can't even be considered or Shamed. That's, um, a shame. With some of the best participation that I can remember we are only allowing two MVP's?

Enormous effort from TC, NC, MA, RK all goes unrecognized? The reward for MVP in the past has been worth little more than pure recognition. Can we consider nominating MVPs for all involved factions and only offering a prize to the MVP of the factions that scored a point? What's the harm in recongizing them for their efforts?

Our votes were based on what we thought was right, it's not a joke. Fire Rock =ALE= was out there day and night defending his sister faction, defending the relics. Carlie as well did the most to help SL score the points they did. She was quick, quiet, and effective. She stunned everyone she came across and was incredibly persistent as she is at every relic event (if you check the past we almost always vote her for TC).
