Freezing up.......Help!
Built a new comp. about 6 months ago. I'm running a ASUS P6T Deluxe mb with a i7 core processor and a GeForce GTX 260 video card. Game ran awesome for awhile and then it started freezing up on me. At first it just did it once in awhile, now it's doing it all the time. I have uninstalled the game and installed it 3 times now. No help. I haven't oc the chip or the video card. Any help would be appreciated.
Re: Freezing up.......Help!
Try differing versions of drivers. My 'alternately branded' GeForce 9600GTS like drivers from 01/08, but not the newer ones... they crash and freeze alot.

Re: Freezing up.......Help!
I have this same problem. I used to think that it was some disconnect tween Vista and my vid card drivers.
Now I'm beginning to think that its my cheap, Acer, LCD monitor. Even though it is rated at a 4ms refresh rate, I don't think it's keeping up with what my GTX 260 vid card is puttin out. It'll freeze up just sitting there, rarely, but it happens.
Usually it happens on a hellball or something of that nature. Nothing pulls it out, can't start task manager, complete freeze. I think this happened to burrahobbit once before, and he replaced the monitor, and no more problems. I'm looking at newer faster refresh rate monitors, BUT any advice/stories/lies, or other means of coercion to get my wife to okay me buying a new monitor would be appreciated.
I could just unleash the 16 month old "Caitlyn the Catastrophic!", she's fond of climbing up on my desk chair, and banging on my computer. Maybe one day I just leave her . . . hmmmm . . .

Thanks for the advice. It gives me something to shoot for. I was about ready to do a complete reformat of the computer.
Re: Freezing up.......Help!
Re-reading, i remember that removing the drivers from my monitor and setting it to a generic lcd moniotr helped a lot too.

As far as monitors go, you cant beat the Sceptre 24" for around $199 at Costco.
Just a great monitor.

Seeing the price decrease from the 350$ I paid makes me want to go buy another.
Maybe after I close on the house...
