Earth genasi tokens and epic dmg reduction
Re: Earth genasi tokens and epic dmg reduction
If it's something that comes and goes, I have a toonwith epic spell focus in Necro, most of the time it apparently does nothinf as dc did not change a bit nor did summons stats. Every once in a while I log him on and he has it working it's like a totally different toon.
Vastly confused
Re: Earth genasi tokens and epic dmg reduction
Keep in mind for summon boosts you cant (nor can your party in the area) be in combat to receive them.

As for your question Retzbu Tox,.... I think you've stumped our panel. If you want, I can help you level up a couple different pure fighters and see if it is in fact a bug with the Earth Genasi.
Let me know what I can do to help.

From NWNwiki on what Epic Damage Reduction stacks with:
From NWNwiki on Damage Resistance and what it stacks with:
Since it is a sort of damage resistance applied like stoneskin or premonition or warding, I THINK that is why it doesn't stack.
When it says it stacks with items that provide physical damage resistance this means Bludge Resist 5/- or something of that nature that resists regardless of the enhancement bonus of the weapon. This feat [Epic Damage Reduction] stacks with Barbarian damage reduction and Dwarven Defender damage reduction. It also stacks with items that provide physical damage resistance (such as a Brawler's Belt), but it does not stack with damage reduction spells such as Stoneskin or Premonition.
From NWNwiki on Damage Resistance and what it stacks with:
Retrieved from "http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Damage_resistance"For the most part, damage resistance does not stack. For each damage type, only the highest resistance granted by a spell or (equipped) item is used. However, damage resistance from feats (resist energy and epic energy resistance) does stack with — and is applied before — other sources of damage resistance, even though the feats do not stack with each other.
Since it is a sort of damage resistance applied like stoneskin or premonition or warding, I THINK that is why it doesn't stack.

What are you talking about? Retzbu Tox isn't able to choose it from the feat list, altho apparently he should.

Aiya Mielikki! CELEB ALCONTARI CUYO ANANN!
For the Glory of Torm! Clericus Liberatus Anno Dominis - Gloria Triadis!
Re: Earth genasi tokens and epic dmg reduction
It may be a specific issue with the earth genasi. I have a pure dwarven fighter 25 who has taken multiple resist energies on general feats without a problem. Perhaps others who have an earth genasi fighter can shed some light as to their experience with the line of feats?
Re: Earth genasi tokens and epic dmg reduction
I have an Earth Gen fighter 32 atm and he is able to select energy resists at level-up. Both regular and Epic.
I put the IO in socIOpath!

oops missed that part, thought people were still discussing the thread title and why you couldn't stack epic damage reduction with earth genasi damage resistanceNyeleni wrote:What are you talking about? Retzbu Tox isn't able to choose it from the feat list, altho apparently he should.

Re: Earth genasi tokens and epic dmg reduction
the revamped earth gen ability is a similar buff to stoneskin, so it would make sense that the bioware code would consider it to be non-stackable with epic dr. The old e.gen ability was several tiers stronger (similar to epic warding), so if it stacked or not wouldn't really have been noticed - also the new epic warding (unless it was changed since i played my mage last) is probably the same way as it's a weak (and nearly useless) dr buff with no ubercool shield FX, similar to stoneskin.
Energy resists have nothing do do with epic dr or e.gen ability (except for acid).
also, like many things, DD DR and epic DR can get bugged so they suddenly don't stack anymore, and the toon could stay like that permanently (like mamba's dis). Hurrah!
