Illithid Colony (Sarek's Hand and Relic)

Post by Nyeleni »

Now I've been lucky enough to survive till Sarek (?) and I got his hand twice, after killing him on two different occasions. But the two times I used the hand nothing happened, there was no teleportation as I was told it should happen.
Why not just place a zoning in the door? You can't cheat through that door anyways. Once you use the hand its open and you should be able to step through. Putting a zoning there would help with the teleportation issues. And if you want to keep it close just use the same script you have on the orc cave door :). That one relocks too.

On a related note, I was able to abduct a relic into the Illithid Colony. I was told by a player I shouldn't. What is the official ruling about this?

A sarevek is just a mob. You haven't met the boss yet.

Those areas are incomplete/not thoroughly tested. If your character gets deleted there, I'm not going to care.

Sarek just a mob? Holy cow, it is almost as bad a fight as the Master of the Sea... Well maybe not as bad, but certainly worse than Ragnar, Cheery, Alzaara, Terran Emperor etc. Well you get my gist. Ah, and if it isnt a boss, that would explain the bad drop, heh.

And no need to get cynical, just flag the portal in Underdark: Cave as uncrossable with a relic :D.

There's always a need to be cynical.

Linux is not able to do much devving for the near future, and certainly was careful about what he put in, so I doubt things will explode if you open the wrong door or something. He showed off some nifty stuff a few weeks back for the Ith colony that made the elder Ith's mass-Bigby thingy seem tame.

Also we should probably get some non-Linux, non-Tep feedback about how difficult creatures should be (these are guys that can solo things that wipe a lot of parties with all kinds of different characters) ;)

According to this thread your tactic is in fact encouraged. Why not? Right?
http://www.nsrealm.com/public/ns/viewto ... &t=1000822

Him "So, Where's our relic?"
Her "Illithid Colony?!?$#? What tha? How the heck are we getting it back from there?!!@#$?"

hehe.

Anyway, as I understand it Eve can work the Illithids effectively primarily due to the Paladin save bonus. Just like a Azerfire or Fire Genasi will rock in Fire Plane. As I understand that mob will still wipe most parties. Please don't make it tougher simply because she has a build well suited to fighting there. It doesn't mean that she'll be able to solo Neg plane or DWP.

Shouldn't it be encouraged to find a place that your build performs well in? No changes would seem necessary because of that. (now if any of my builds were able to solo anything high level then its obviously too easy).

See ya later,

Just my 2 cents, but I don't think relics should be allowed in any "planar" type area.
I put the IO in socIOpath!

I suppose the next question would be... knowing that you shouldnt be able to port a relic anywhere why would you even try and if you did succeed just because the dev hasnt had time to fix it yet why in the WORLD would you not bring it back.

Good work on asking though. It is nice you raised the question.

It isn't a portal like into a nexus. Thus it is technically still Aetheria...

And it isn't "planar". And before you come with "epic": Amazons is allowed too. But Illithid may be a bit over the top with lvl40 threats.

This is true, my build can survive there because, A) mobs don't spawn in huge numbers at once B) Paladin and CoT and high Charisma plus job token help against those dc ~50 psionic attacks.
But then again, I can solo some areas of Negative or Positive as well. Only Water gives me headaches sometimes. And Dragon Home, but mainly because I don't know it very well yet :).

I know it isn't technically "planar", hence the quotes. And I didn't use Epic, but the threat there stacks up to what could be considered Epic and Planar from all accounts I have heard. And I know relics are not allowed in the planes but like you were so keen on pointing out Nyeleni the illithids are in aetheria. And thats why I said "planar" type.
