i r wail happy !!!!!

Re: Nerfalicious
High will was necessary before this nerf... don't believe me? Then you must not have experienced the Stalwart Slammer... any fighter who didn't take iron will and epic will was generally DOA. This was before these nerfs. Pure Fighters have so many feats to burn, that they'll be least affected unless the player doesn't know stuff... plus they get immunity to fear if I recall.
Point is... not only is there a workaround for this, but its not even that difficult. And destroying clerics? Hardly... they're more important than ever now... and Storm of Vengeance anyone?

Not true. You have no idea how much time the staff and myself spend discussing forum discussions, as well as following groups through areas and checking every little monster/PC stat. But, since you dont care what we think, and love to tell us you dont care what we think, i guess i will end this rant here.

Re: Nerfalicious
i think this is a awesome and long awaited adjustment.
It makes skill prevailent where auto immunity was in place.
builds and what you use / drink / scroll whatev is now more imporntant than ever
thanks dms this is awesome

It's always helpful to be reminded that if you want feedback you nerf the crap out of something.
Been playing a little while again and have a list of things that need some kind of work, but not enough of a sense of things as a whole to decide what is a good direction to tweak a specific thing in. There's also a depressing number of things that were on my list to revisit at some point like 3 years ago

lokey is the god of nerfaggedon

Re: Nerfalicious
I've been out of the game for awhile so I may not know what I'm talking about, but it seemed to me that a lot of the mind affecting DC's from some of the abilities were way out of proportion.
Just a couple off the top of my head are the druid/shifter dragon aura fear DC which can easily hit 50+, and the barbarian fear which iirc can be a lot higher maybe 70's? Mages/clerics DC's are rarely above 45 if they completely dedicate themselves.
What do you do vs that? Like I said, I have been out of the game so I really have no idea... It just seems like those effects end up being auto win- can someone please explain this to me.

i currently have 2 level 29 builds both are ok on half of the saves you mentioned and they are currently only 30.
i might fail a few times but thats what this is about. not being immune but having the possibility to fail sometimes.
After all only dms are supposed to be immortal

Re: Nerfalicious
Oh ok, nm I just noticed the DC on dragon fear aura is reduced to 20 + wis mod- that seems much more in line with spell DC's, good change
Is Terrifying rage is also toned down? I tried to search for it but didn't really find how that one is caculated
It looks like a good changes overall, I'll be looking forward to getting back in.
New developers?

I stand corrected. Or sit corrected facing the wall with the dunce hat on. It has been my impression that DM/Devs were like ornery young kids with insects in a jar saying "shake em and see if the fight!!".LinuxPup wrote:High will was necessary before this nerf... don't believe me? I haven't had enough time to tinker with the changes yet but i feel it is my duty to fly off the handle at every little change, exaggerate about how bad its going to be, and act like its the end of the world. Its my job. I feel i do it quite well.
It does seem to me that by lowering our ability to save against certain spells/affects, we have given an already powerful mage an even bigger advantage. Crip strike rulz all!!!
P.S. It took me 4 hours to get rid of an ability drain at lvl 16, my only options were to beg a high lvl in shout or suicide. Strange huh?
edited repeatedly cause i cant spell

Re: Nerfalicious
yeah..i like that permanent ability drains actually account for something...instead of stuff that just gets washed away in the rain because it doesn't matter.
Re: Nerfalicious
After I got a night of sleep, and to think about how this affect my toons(I only have 2 now), I've come to the conclution that this will notin any major way destroy a toon. hose with access to buffs in the past will still have decent will save, and you still needed fort to protect from implotion in the past so the loss of deth ward is not that major. HIPSers will be a bit harder, but I*m sure we can live with that to :p
All in all it mas a few more paths for wizards plausible, and some other classes, but it dosent make for any über class(still on the fence if pdk has the original fear aura since it can easily go to 42-45 dc constantly without spellcraft to help the save.).
I think it will be interesting to see how this plays out :p

Why would I want to count 12 hours twice? I’m perfectly capable of counting to 24, and while we’re at it, can someone go shoot named time zones. GMT+x is all we need!

Re: Nerfalicious
You made crip strikers far too powerful, neg burst is an autowin vs a dex based character without nuetralize poison. Is this the point of the switch, are you trying to get rid od dex based characters? Are you trying to make mages more powerful? Were you guys concerned that shishio type builds were having trouble competing in pvp and had to make their crip strike effects even better? I guess maybe if i understood what your desired outcome was, it would be easier for me to move forward.Amoenotep wrote:yeah..i like that permanent ability drains actually account for something...instead of stuff that just gets washed away in the rain because it doesn't matter.
