Server times out when trying to log on ?

Hello, I have been unsuccessful in loggin on NS4, just times out? I am running Vista, are there any issues?

Although your question seems like a connection problem, vista has a number of issues when trying to run games that only support a single processing core. I suggest that you double check that your computer is running nwn with only one core. I've also been able to cut down on load times on startup and logging in drastically by checking nwmain.exe properties, compatibility mode and having it run under winxp service pack 2, full administrator privileges.


If you still have issues through the default gamespy search engine, try typing ns4.servegame.com:60001 in the neverwinter nights direct connect dialog box. Alternatively, you can try adding a link to your desktop to: C:\Games\NWN\nwmain.exe +connect 74.192.150.137:60001

If 60001 doesn't work, you should try Amoenotep's suggestion of switching port numbers, typically 5121, or 62793 instead.

I have added in my favorites all three port numbers to take care of the issue of what port the service is using at the time. It seems to help.

I just noticed that this was the specific path that I had posted earlier and wanted to mention that the location of the file nwnmain.exe may be a different path by default. I had installed it into a custom directory \Games\NWN. You will need to customize this path for your own setup. ie:

C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\nwmain.exe +connect 74.192.150.137:60001
