Polling the populace for opinions on a server wipe.

I posted this out of curiosity not as a call to arms. I understand your sentiment cRaZy8or5e about anyone listening but I figured if it was overwhelming either way the Devs and DM's could use it as a weather gauge.
And Chase, I was wondering where you have hiding. Thought maybe you went up the county. Or are you a flatlander?

I voted no, only because I think it would be bad for the occasional gamer who comes to NS4, who would be dissapointed to find their toon gone a few months from now, and would just go to a server where their character build remains.

For the "vetrans" that are here, I can definetly see how a wipe would be appealing, even to me, but for the overall good of the server, I think its a bad idea.

I didn't play NS4 for over a year and when I came to check if my toons were still here I was surprised they were. It made me come back and enjoy the server again. While I can't say I wouldn't play if my toons are goone. Having them available for sure made the decision easier. So I would say I am against wipe.

I think that probably the only people who would really leave would be those dual-loggers that want to get power-leveled up to 40 as fast as possible so tehy can pwn teh n00bz.

The game is fun, this persistant world is fun. Personally...and this is a little embarassing...I've never leveled a toon to 40 here. I would quote cRaZy8or5e, but I'm lazy. NS4 would still be fun for me either way.

i agree with bril tho --- he is 'pre-planar' areas -- back then it required alot more time to hit 40... and even with the new areas it is true --- that making a 40 does take time -- time that some people cannot afford...

but regardless -- i would love to see a wipe nevermind my account of 10 personal mules that are still stockpiled with stuff that i could never possibly use ... nevermind my gear - most of it is outdated.... we have come a long way since the last wipe -- almost 2 years ago now.... and it is TIME !

my rationale is this : the number of changes to the server that have went in since the last wipe -- the new areas ; planes; gear; etc.... it would bring a new feel to the server --- well maybe its not quite time for a wipe yet if the devs are planning one last big hurrah when 1.69 hits ....... so aye ! flush the toilet !

just be sure to give Chase the 'pwnage' button -- i am sure he will enjoy seeing us wield +2 clubs for at least a short time

As an NS4 player I voted yes on this for several reason. One, its such a load on the server having all those unused toons just lying about in the database. Two, It will be nice to start fresh in different locations or even guilds for some. Getting a different flavor from the same server is a nice thing to do from time to time. Three, change is good... embrace it!

my own personal reasons for supporting a wipe: 1) to clean up my own accounts of useless toons, 2) its fun to start over fresh, 3) havent had one for a couple years so the database is probably huge, 4) perfect opportunity to do a large update to the server (say 1.69 patch and a couple pure class features added at once, etc)..5) uhh...to clean up my accounts?

another indecisive fatzo analyzation for the record books ! but to lead into my new take on this matter i first must say:

opinions and debate are the core principles of democracy....but there is no one place that is 100% democratic

in other words: we can clamor all we want for a wipe ; but it is not going to be soely up to us weather or not it happens --- and like it always has been in the past -- not everyone who plays NS4 is as heavy-a-forum-user as some of us here are ! -- just look at all the past changes we have seen across the server in the past years ! -- i was talking to a DD member this evening on the server and we were briefly touching on some of the past 'nerfs' that have been put into play --- some that many of us supported and other changes that we all might have shouted against ! but they all ended up happening !

What it really comes down to is argument -- can we rationalize a server wipe or not?

in contrast of my previous statements ; i sat down and said to myself after reading over other threads --- do i really want to level ANOTHER level 40 ? ...in the same locations ? hmmm ..... now im not sure.

i think ill take the democratic approach and reserve my right to not agree with either side in full
