So, before getting started on this, one might venture to ask what would and would not be acceptable as boosts to a pure cleric. My main reason for asking is that I don't wanna step on the toes of the pure arcanists.

With that in mind, pure cleric powers should probably be more deity and faith based as you have the potential for a whole slew of gods and alignments. It could get pretty complex.

Some ideas that I had:

- One additional epic spell, provided they met the requirements for said spell.

- A means of channeling their god's energy to deal damage to a single target: positive for good, negative for evil and something like sonic for neutral, or a mix of both pos and neg.

- Summoning a lesser, faction-specific avatar:
-----> SL would get a really bad-@$$ spider with high DC poisons.
-----> LA would get an "Aspect of Lathlander" (probably a glowy cleric-type with some hammer of the gods and searing lights slotted).
-----> RK could have "Moradin's Hammer" (an "invisible" dwarf wielding a hammer and shield).
-----> TC would get a "Spirit of the Wood" (a blue or green glowy white stag with some unique special abilities).

So that's just off the top of my head. I also think that each ability should force the epic cleric to perform the meditate or worship emote for 3-5 seconds to activate. This could be helpful in balancing the power of the pure cleric by making them vulnerable while they pray to their god.

I think the development path for clerics has been leaning toward pushing Clerics into a supporting role

As I understand it there are two reasons people still wont play clerics as support class

1. They are powerful enough to go it alone (if you multiclass them this even more true)
2. Most parties don't see the value in waiting for a tame pure cleric to buff them and then play the supporting role, the difference isn't that grand for the time spent doing it (to slow to buff).

Maybe purist idea's supporting the concept will be taken on board but from what i have seen clerics will be the last to get bonus' if they ever do get them

Interesting and unique abilities that encourage supporting other players might see the light of day.

I think things like making the "regeneration" spell an area of effect with actual regen amount based on level is supportive of the design path.

Make divine power and divine favour operate in a similar way, effects party members in range but no longer the cleric.

Increase the power of healing spells cast on others by 5% for each pure level over 20 (so +%100 at 40)

These fixes take away from a clerics soloing power and add to there support ability, this would be a win for everyone. Take things that A cleric does for themself and move it into area effect excluding caster and you have a party support class.

Also things that don't reduce the power but do support party play like 'Storm of Vengance' offering a boost friendlies (but not caster who is the conduit for the power) in it in some way (immune to fear?)

Ther better be something nice happening if a cleris should go pure. Right now he looses to much without gaining much.

I would sugest changing buff spells so they scale slower but longer. say at lvl 40 you can make armor/shield/wep +8, dark fire and probably some more, after all clerics not taking 4 warior lvls pre 20 gives up an attack and no tumble levls is -4 ac.
Bost summons for pure clerics.

Maybe give a level 40 purist her bioware darkfire back? :P

Also, what about bless stacking with other spells at 35, but still capped at like +3?

I like RK's, 'cause I'd always use Hammer of the Gods in PvM with Gary all the way up epics. :D

Another cleric pure bonus could be a massive xp/gold discount when making scrolls or potions of buff-type spells.

And how about getting our deity's name emblazoned on our armor. :lol:

And when the pure cleric praises their god or goddess, a "shout" comes back that says something appropriate, but it appears to come from our deity.

how about +1 spell dc for every 5 levels over 20?

+1 spell dc at 25
+2 at 30
+3 at 35
+4 at 40

With the new OnPlayerChat stuff in 1.69, it could be made so that one had to type in a designated prayer (or have a custom text macro slotted) to activate some of these abilities.

A DC increase may very well be helpful, but I don't know if it would be frowned upon.

Perhaps have the pure cleric's basic buffs (owl's, bull's, etc.) cast as the "greater" version of the spell? Not sure if this would require a hak or not...

Last I was told, an increase to DC's to spells is not possible without

a. a HAK
or
b. Manually changing every affected spells.

Not a bad idea though, keep em comin'. Always happy to have input on casters.
Serving NS4 proper as Lathander and Sleeth as Bahamut.
