Scroll durations
Scroll durations
Is it possible when scrolls are crafted that they get the duration of the caster? Or does this already happen? Can extended spells be taken into account as well?

Re: Scroll durations
As far as I know (not to up on this stuff) scrolls have a set casting level when made (by default) that changes in power by the pc's ability (casting levels) using it.
The scripting to make scrolls based on the crafter's ability or by extended, maximized or empowered would be way to massive to even consider.

Re: Scroll durations
Given Linux's recent accomplishments I might tend to disagree.

Re: Scroll durations
scrolls use the user's lvls/abilities for all things considered.....no, we won't do it on casters crafting ability.
Re: Scroll durations
Well that works too. So a 35th level whatever is going to get 35 rounds of haste out of a scroll then?

Re: Scroll durations
it should work similar to that when used from a scroll by a caster.
Re: Scroll durations
I ask that because it does not seem to be the case with quite a few scrolls I have seen. The dropped scrolls seems to echo the cr of the creature killed up to 20(have not seen a scroll with over a 20).

Re: Scroll durations
As far as I've seen. certain spells scolled have varied casting level e.g. hammer of the gods ive found at various casting levels (x). But as far as far as scribing them they seem to all have a default casting lvl. but as far as DC's and Skillfocuses go for the said reader of scroll they seem to be applied. So durations and dmg/lvls are per scroll lvl. but SR beating and Feat bonuses and caster level seem too effect the targets normally. as far as MetaMagiking scrolls I can't even imagine how that would be implemented or even worthwhile. Costs of fabricaating say Haste scrolls vs. amount of bonus recieved for the benefits would be highly expensive.
I personally use alot of scrolls, certain spells even for the limited and highly dispelable nature are quite effective but in no way would i suggest anybody to build around scroll use.

Re: Scroll durations
OK I can barely understand a word Alkapwn said, but I do agree (if he even said this, i just couldnt follow even a little bit) that spells cast from a scrolls are, lets just say quite different from those cast normally.
I hope its un-intended, because what I see needs a fix b4 some1 starts whining like Marthas Vineyard.

Re: Scroll durations
I used haste as an example because it was the first thing that came to mind. I have other spells in mind for builds.

Re: Scroll durations
I haven't made them in a while, but I swear back a while ago if you made, say, a bull strength pot using an extended slot, it would reflect that in the potion - when you drink it it would say 'metamagic: spell extended' or something.
But then, that whole experience could be a false memory embedded by my ns4 psyciatrist.

hmmm though after testing I don't think its caster lvl vs spell resist, it is in fact Scroll lvl + feats vs. Spellresist
and DC is calculated as normal for that caster so a Necro Wizard with 40 int and esf Necromancy and epic spell pentration casting a scroll of Finger of Death say at 13 scroll level
would be applied as so... 10+15(int)+6(feat)+7(spell lvl) equaling a whopping DC 38 as a 19lvl wizard vs spell resist.
thats all i was saying.
Feats (Spell Focus & Spell Penetration)apply, Caster bonus applies, scroll is cast as per scroll level (the little bracket number beside it) in regards to dmg, duration, etc....
I can't imagine who would whine about it? oh yeah I forgot where I was

Thats not the case. I guarantee it.Celorn wrote:I haven't made them in a while, but I swear back a while ago if you made, say, a bull strength pot using an extended slot, it would reflect that in the potion - when you drink it it would say 'metamagic: spell extended' or something.

All spells and potions are created equal regardless of metamagic, feats, levels etc etc
a 1st lvl mage scrolling magic missile scrolls the exact same scroll as a 40 lvl mage scrolling maximized magic missile.
