It's been down all morning (US). Don't know if it's been down all night too. But lately the server has been kicking the bucket more often during server restarts...is there system instability on the server machine?

The NS4 server is back up.

I also wrote a script that should restart the nwserver process automatically when it locks up. I went with pretty conservative timers though because I don't want to unnecessarily restart the nwserver process due to false positives. The script runs every 5 minutes and will do 3 consecutive checks spaced 30 seconds apart before restarting the nwserver process. This means that when the server locks up, it will take anywhere from 1 to 6 minutes to restart itself. If the script functions as intended and we don't experience any unnecessary restarts, we'll consider decreasing the intervals to achieve quicker restarts.

ns4 is fixed. I updated my "automatically restart the nwserver process" script, too. It wasn't firing because the cpu utilization threshold was set at 90%. This morning when it locked up, the nwserver process was consuming 83.2%. I reconfigured the threshold for 80%, so hopefully it will restart properly the next time it locks up.
