This should help:

Ubuntu's main site is an invaluable resource. If you're new to Linux, I'd explore thoroughly there.

Good luck and happy learnings! :)

The podcast: Linux Reality has got 2 episodes on Ubuntu running it from a liveCD and installing it. It should give you a good introduction to both Ubuntu and Linux in general, its a great resource for new linux users (such as myself) imo.

You'll have to use a Win32 emulator. Google for one. :)

You wont be able to install all games, but if you get wine that will help a bit, and if you want to use a little money you should get Cedega which will enable you to play some more games. However NWN2 still can't be played on Linux.

There is a native Linux client for NWN1, so you do not need Wine to run it.

Battlefield 2 is officially supported by Cedega (which Netrom already mentioned). Paying for the Cedega subscription is your best bet to get newer Windows games running in Linux. You *might* be able to get it running with Wine using Windows DLLs, but I don't know for certain.

you should have a drive some where in your /home/username/.wine (notice that files and directories starting with a . is considered hidden in linux, and will not show in your file browser by default

Why would I want to count 12 hours twice? I’m perfectly capable of counting to 24, and while we’re at it, can someone go shoot named time zones. GMT+x is all we need!
