DD from MA or SL?
DD from MA or SL?
I know nothing prevents players from making characters from any faction and acting like they are part of a guild but I thought using characters with guild tags from a faction other then the guilds faction was not allowed? I know DD has waffled between MA and SL alot but aren't they all supposed to be from SL now? So why are there DD tagged Palemasters still. DeathDealer1 has a Palemaster but at least he doesn't have a DD tag on it. The Deathdealers seem to be the only guild that abuses this rule and nothing seems to be done about it. I know even some kSt members got reprimanded for using old LA toons after they moved to AO so how come DD is still allowed? Not a big deal since it is only a matter of names but since guilds have to "choose" a faction they should only be allowed to tag SL characters with DD and not be able to play DD characters that aren't from SL. Personally the "take a relic and drop it for another faction" is still really cheesy but at least pretend DD is based in SL and keep the DD tags there. Just my 2 cents.

Well DD1 I would assume the guild member would not be allowed to play those characters because they are now considered illegal. Even KST made new toons rather quickly when they swapped factions so it shouldnt be that difficult. I would think that is one of the things that was discussed among the guild members or at least posted to your members on your forums before you swapped factions!?Death Dealer1 wrote:this must be a response to one of the older members who has almost all tagged chars that were from MA since this mod first started....is he supposed to delete all of his chars? start fresh and new?

not a matter of swapping factions. its a matter of they have had tagged chars since before the wipe and after the wipe and just about every single one of them are from MA. he wasn't playing when "36 hour char switch deadline for up to 2 chars" rule went into effect, and i don't think he really wants to remake every single guy he has ever made.
if i didn't do it...someone else would have.

I'm with DCN on this matter. It looks like another matter of DD looking to gain any advantage they can regardles of the spirit of the rules. If the player in question want to play in the guild, then his tagged characters have to be in the right faction. As much as kst can annoy me, they followed this rule and many of them ended up rebuilding most of their characters. The faction switch back in the winter cost me a few guild members because of factiopn incompatibilities. The same should go for this player.

i wouldn't lump all of DD into this elag...its just a matter of one guy comes back after a leave of absence and hasn't changed anything. since i talk to him alot i'll tell him how the rules are supposed to be and that its hurting your feelings he hasn't changed factions yet. i hope he still plays.
if i didn't do it...someone else would have.

well to get back on topic (not that i was in the first place) it seems that the DD cant function as a power of any moderation without having to rely on toons from different factions... and they are the only guild that i can recall who practices this practice frequently.

Well here's the thing...I had toons before the wipe too...but it was a wipe..they are gone...so when I came back afterwards, I made new toons. I had several that I leveled and would have liked to add to DCN when we started it, I didn't want to remake mine either but we weren't even given an option of a 36 hour and 2 character minimum to move over or redo...we all had to rename and start from scratch with no option to remake. So DD was given a break there and I don't think they should take advantage of that.Death Dealer1 wrote:not a matter of swapping factions. its a matter of they have had tagged chars since before the wipe and after the wipe and just about every single one of them are from MA. he wasn't playing when "36 hour char switch deadline for up to 2 chars" rule went into effect, and i don't think he really wants to remake every single guy he has ever made.
I'd say tell your members.."Hey I feel your pain but guild rules have been changed a bit since you were here so here's what you need to do to play and still be in the guild and our guild leaders will be glad to help you level if need be."
Now I really am not complaining, I am just saying that if it is allowed for one guild then I will ask that our members are allowed the same and you will see me in SL making a DCN Assasin.
Obviously it is not allowed for good reason and Netrom has stated his opinion on this and I respect that and totally agree.
As Always, tossing up food for thought!
