RE: Official Guilds in Aetheria
Re: Official Guilds in Aetheria
I mentioned DD and IO because they were inactive for a while. . . but became active again (I guess I havent been around much). My point more derived from pre-wipe specifically, when I made a guild in SL. . . noone had seen a LoD toon in ages and I had to go find all the right people to get the spot open. All Im saying is there should be a regular check for active members for guilds. . . as the saying goes in school "Harder to keep an A than first get it". The people who would be starting cults are already doing their own thing, I think it would be nice for those guilds who are inactive, or lack unique members to be cleared out (cant be losing much from it right?). This would make room for the new players to have (hpoefully) a more involved state within NS4. I mentioned AO, RK, SL guilds. . . seems like everyone was getting my point (even if taken personally) so I didnt move on to talk about TC, NC, MA. I wasnt trying to single anyone out nor leave anyone out!
And yeah Cahaal its alot of baby prep and 65-75 hour work weeks (not including 1:30 round trip drive time). Been playing some D2 cuz when its time to crash I can just log out and start back in town. . . and runs take 5 minutes not 5 hours lol!

Re: Official Guilds in Aetheria
Well like you said Korr It is more work to keep a guild going than to start it. Sometimes people just need a break. I remember pre-wipe PWND went from 8 active members to 2 for a couple months. Now look at them. Same with all guilds. It would just seem hardly fair for a guild who's put in hundreds of hours / member with handfuls of 40's and packed guild mules too be ousted because they wanted to take a break. All current Guiild leaders whether they login often or not are always crawling the forum. I'd say (and it appears the dmTeam agrees) it seems to be working.
After reading over the forums what you are suggesting is already what does happen. e.g. BoP
And Grtz on the baby, Korr!

Re: Official Guilds in Aetheria
I dont think theres any real need to quickly remove guilds if they're taking it easy for a bit, but if you have the same bunch of people making more than 1 guild, I can sure see the problem.

Didn't PWND come about when "some" ppl where exiled from LA?Alkapwn wrote: I remember pre-wipe PWND went from 8 active members to 2 for a couple months.

Why would I want to count 12 hours twice? I’m perfectly capable of counting to 24, and while we’re at it, can someone go shoot named time zones. GMT+x is all we need!

Re: Official Guilds in Aetheria
Yeah the PWnD members were basically all from LA if I recall right. I also never specifically put in a way/time where you would have a guild auto-deleted, just thought that from time to time clearing up guilds from atheria might make the new players be able to enjoy it more by making their own

Re: Official Guilds in Aetheria
It should also be considered that the server population in general waxes & wanes with the seasons. Winter is definitely the most populated time, followed by summer, with autumn and especially spring being the least active gaming time for a lot of people. I've learned this from planning guild meetings in general and discovering when it was best to get good attendance.

Re: RE: Official Guilds in Aetheria
It's elementary my dear Watson.
Guild membership once started generally stays the same. Their individual levels of activity is what changes.
Some need a break from gaming, others have r/l issues to tend to, some get discouraged and bored with guild politics, some get discouraged and bored with other members, others find another guild more attractive. Some guilds allow membership on other guilds, some do not in that they want your complete loyalty. The list goes on.
The reasons for "levels of activity" as a guild member vary and are as individual as the members themselves.
One thing we have never done is "We haven't seen any members on from Guild ABC in a week, revoke their status and open a slot". The Staff watches, then at reviewed time, all have their input as to what they have observed.
So in-order to keep status, it is suggested that guilds do a little recruiting now and again increase their membership and in some cases, their "group" activity. 1 guild member running around for six months may not get their guild through the next review.

Re: RE: Official Guilds in Aetheria
Elementary? I would have thought. But in my entire time at NS4 (not including server wipes) the recent guild review was the only one I have ever heard of

1. You need to spesify SL-DD or MA-DD when you talk about DD.Korr wrote:Elementary? I would have thought. But in my entire time at NS4 (not including server wipes) the recent guild review was the only one I have ever heard of
2. Guilds have disapered b4, kst, wokies(or some thing like that in sl), and I think there was an nc guild that just faded away. In adition slaves, bb and dcn went with the last wipe.

Well the SL guild is DD, and the MA guild is MADD. . . seems easy enough to differentiate. Wookies from what I hear werent a guild but a cult that built out of all factions. . . not sl. And you make my point in that 3 guilds were lost, but only to the server wipe not a guild review.
