The Other Events Thread

Post by Malik »

I am open to suggestions for events, so here I ask the players.

Has there ever been an event idea that you've thought would be great?

If there is, post it here with a few details (level range, basic plot) and if I, or any of the other DM if they wish, think its possible will plan on holding your event.

Starts in Avendell in Cranston's House. Speaking with Mr. William Cranston the player learns that he needs plants and will trade them for special items and requires the PC's services.

Part 1 for PC's lvl 1 to 25. "Baby Dragon's Tooth" Quest

Object: The PC is sent to various areas where a particular plant grows and must return a "cutting" to William Cranston who in-turns swaps the plant for the next lvl token. The token gives various degrees of "healing" and in various numbers until the final plant is gathered and the pc receives a "Baby's Dragon Tooth" that gives 1 full heal at lvl 25. (Self Use Only, Once per Day)

Mechanics. William Cranston's Quest is level restricted so that the quest progresses as the pc lvl's. All Items are a no-drop item, only 1 per pc and only can be gathered when correct token is recognized in the pack of the PC.

Token 1 = 1x Cure light wounds
Token 2 = 2x Cure Light Wounds
Token 3 = 1x Cure Light Wounds + 1x Cure (next level wounds)
etc..
Reason: Plants to be scatter in all faction areas and in FD. This will help in teaching people the different areas of the server. There should be about 9 to 12 levels of this quest.

Part 2 for PC's lvl 30 to 40. "Dragon's Tooth" Quest:

Object: The pc speaks with Gerta Cranston and is given a token which is recognized by all plants the PC is required to gather. The PC must have completed the "Baby Dragon's Tooth" quest first. This time the plants grow only in the Boss's chamber (zone) only (1 plant in each of all epic planes) and return all the "cuttings" in one shot to Gerta Cranston who in-turns swaps the them for the prize only when the PC reaches lvl 40.

Prize: "Dragon's Tooth" has 1 Raise Dead and 1 Resurrection (One Use per Day)

Other quest ideas I have can be for special class Items that can be aquired by an PC with a minimum of 21 levels in a particular class that would enhance the class within their build. This would be for combo builds.

For example a Ranger's Quest with 6 to 8 parts where in the end they receive The Ranger's Bow:

Massive Criticals: 2d6
Attack Bonus: +3
Mighty: +4
Regeneration: +2
Unlimited Amunition
2d10 Piercing Damage
Vampiric Regeneration: +1

Can not be dropped or disarmed.

If weapons are not appealing then a Ranger's Cape that would enhance their ability of using any bow.

Armor Items, Rings, Belts, Staffs etc.. can all be incorporated into quests of this nature.

Various quests like this can be done covering a number of classes.

Gumball Rally! Lvl 16-20
The Gods have decided to put up and coming Heros to a test of Skills,Wit,Power and allegiance to thier dieties!

Have a starting point somewhere .... say Windale..
and an end point say ...........The Sea caves
The whole race must take place on foot. NO dragons or Ferries allowed.
There will be 10 checkpoints- at each checkpoint their will be A Feat to overcome
- Strength,Dexterity,Constitution,Intel,Wisdom,Charisma, Discipline,Concentration, Spell resistance and a Great Enemy.

Each Racer must pass each challenge to receive a token or somesort of proof of pass and make it to the end of course where there will be a final challenge that is Faction/Diety specific(perhaps a riddle/trivia or another enemy up to the imagination of dm) Upon winning the race the winner will recieve a Grand prize and there should be 2nd,3rd place prizes aswell. Also a tertiary prize to anyone that finishes at all. and a participation award for all the others who didnt quite make it up to snuff for some reason or another.
At the Begining of the race the players would be given the first checkpoint and then upon reaching it after passing the challenge they would recieve a message to the next relay point. It could wind all through tons of areas that are rarely traveled. obviously some challenges will be really ez for some toons and some toons will be moving pretty fast through the course such as monks and such but the challenges should be challenging for all builds hence the low level . They'd be able to survive the wilderness fair ease.
Perhaps one could even be created for epic toons and have them run guantlets all through the Planes! though im sure Neg plane would kill most solo players pretty fast.
I could see this being really fun. We can have full contact runs aswell where pvp's allowed and ones without aswell.

lol im tired i thought Malik was askin for Event ideas not quest ideas.
a good idea none the less (I really like De Slider's ideas too woot)
But the footrace could easily become a indvidual quest too. say the character would have to make the whole race without resting and perhaps receive some sort of boon from thier perspective FactionGods>

Thats my fault, I was actually meaning Events, I forgot they were two different things. de_slider, I may try and convert you ideas to events cause I really like them.

I'm going to edit my first post to be less misleading now... Sorry!

There is an idea of an event Ive been thinking about lately... It would be some sort of a siege. Where we would need a castle - and one hostile to all factions.
Sunken would be acceptable I think. Just think of all the sunken city as the besieged castle.
In that castle each faction is working with the others, overcoming the foes but at the same time fighting each other to get a special item, hidden somewhere in the buildings in Sunken City ie.
Every faction has to find it's item. There isn't only one. Now there is the possibility that somebody might find an item belonging to another faction. In that case it's acceptable to confront the other with weapons and magic. But if you kill each other without any reason you're out of the event. The first faction to reach the ship with the right item wins the event. Now that needs prolly a lot of organization and coordination. Meaning several DMs and a lot of spawned mobs. Therefore prolly not possible. But I still thought I might share my idea.

PS how do you know somebody took the wrong item? Now that person would be flagged of course heh, with a red flag. If you get the right item it would be green. Would it be acceptablel to hunt that person down? Hm, maybe... Would be a hell of chaos though. And area spells would cause attacks that werent intentional. That is why all the factions would start neutral to each other. And only if somebody is spotted with a flag, might that one be hunted down.

Not sure if it would work, though I would like to give it a shot. Besides fighting the foe and looking out for flags, it should be very unpredictable.

These are just some fairly simple ones that a single DM could pull off, some of them can be done with screenshots PM'd on the boards if the DM can't stay on for the entire time.

Treasure Hunt:

A god shouts from the heavens listing 10 items that need to be gathered and placed into a single box/coffer - the first one to offer this to the god's shrine wins (offline DM- the first one to PM a screenshot wins). The shrine could also be placed in a random location somewhere on the land that the god would logically rule (ie: faction).

Dragonslayers:

A team of pre-epic toons must defeat all the worldly (non-planar and non-AO territory) dragons. Could have any number of teams and the DM could time the time it takes for each team, and the fastest one wins. (offline version: the players must screenshot each kill while shouting a particular phrase/word with the time/date)

Could also make an epic version, kill the planar dragons: Tig'ak, Ebby & Draco (and... G1!? =) ).

Assasination:

One person grabs a relic and runs off with it to hide, they have 5 or 10 minutes to run away with it before anyone can hunt them. Then the rest of the server can hunt them down (they can relog as needed, use diviners, etc...). The most effective method would be to get a split party together in a faction that has their own relic, or the faction that has the relic taken in order to use diviners to track him, and the other team to run after him. The individual that lands the killing blow gets a prize, and the team gets a minor prize. (offline version: the killer can pm the screenshot with combat logs to show the kill)

Slaughterama:

Dm spawns in a bunch of mobs EACH containing a special item (perhpas that weighs 100 lbs each). Whichever player has the most of the special item at the end wins.

Heh about the dragons, you realize that AO or RK can't participate. As it happens my mage wanted to best the remote Red Dragon beyond the Bottomless Pit. Bottom line that mage isn't friendly to AO anymore...

I already played the hiding with the relic while being hunted once. They got me while I was looting the Slaver in the Amazon Camp heh... Can be fun. Though 5 minutes might be a bit much. Oh and make sure the hunted isn't a lvl40 pure monk.

Slaughterama is very discriminating though. Only strength based characters would have a chance to win, if the 100lbs would be included...

Montrous Alliances
Not sure of the DM logistics, but events where lower level parties get a chance at the big guys, kind of a taste of the higher levels. For example, mixing all or some of the Frostdale denizens together (wolves, bears, giants, trolls, djinn, skeletons, etc.) so that their various strengths could be used together (as opposed to pure numbers). Throwing a troll mob and/or skeleton mob in with some ice giants should make it a little more challenging. And when the party tries to rest, bring in some earth or fire plane denizens to keep them on their toes. Make the party fight for survival, not just loot.
Another version would be endurance events. How long can you go without resting. Of course, don't mention this ahead of time. Then you can see who best uses thier resources.
Repeat any number of of times with the exact same group sizes, and a "winning" group could be the one that lives the longest or suffers the fewest party deaths.
