Since its been pointed out that there is an over-abundence of death save gear, which puts a severe wrench into half of the higher-level wiz spells, i have a suggestion to even things out a bit, if it can be done.
Since weird first affects the mind (will) THEN the body (fort) why not have it set up so that if a person fails their will save against it, it applies a -10 modifier to the subsequent fort. save? (mind over body, ya know).
Makes sense. A person fails their will save, so they are extreamly shaken / frightened by the phantasim, so this affects their body's attempt to shake off the death effect.
This might be easier then removing the majority of the death save items, or putting in a script that increases a pure wiz's DC more then what the game already gives them.
Wiz / Sorc death magic suggestion
I played a necromancer/illusionist mage to level 35ish pre wipe, and yeah, it is alright, the only thing is soooooooooo much has death/mind immunity it is rediculous.
PvP yes it can be alright, but seriously with the suggested -10 to the fort save on Wierd if they fail the will save, I can understand and I feel that it may have it's uses, perhaps make a similar thing to Phantasmal Killer but not -10, perhaps -2 or 3.
