Key Generation for Dye toon.

Heres my problem.

I have a toon thats stuck in the guild house. I cant get it out even though I have a key generator on another toon. (You cant key yourself).

Now since I play at a time when most of my guild are not on, I never seem to meet up with the one other person who may key me. I also never seem to be on when DM's are on of late.

I have spent two hours constantly spamming DM channel and shout for a DM to key me and or open the guild door to let me out. It plain silly.

Please check into having the Dye NPC in each Guild hall to be able to key properly tagged toons for their respective guilds. This would meen that when our members have toons that need to be keyed they need not wait for one of the personnel with a key Gen to be on and all they need to do is shoot us a PM with the name of the toon keyed to be added to our list.

if all else fails..strip naked and let the dye npc kill you.

No you cant do that as you will then lose faction.

I am sure you will not like the results.

by attacking someone in your faction once, you will not lose faction. they just won't like you for a while. if you kill someone, they you lose faction.

when do you play? I can log in for short periods of time at most times during the day to let you out.

i must disagree with this statement.....
ideally, sure its cool - an npc can key guild toons, it leaves open a security loophole tho, and there is a reason why guild hands/stewarts/leaders have keygens or keymule access, so that they can moderate who gets a key and can be sure that the keyed individual belongs :wink:

but then of course - theres the really obvious problem with it : if the dyer is inside the guildhouse , and you need to be keyed by the dyer, then how are you going to get into the guild house to get keyed in the first place !!1!oeneoeneonee ! :lol:

your situation is a rare one :P

I was just wondering. If this char is a dwarven defender, and there is a hefty chance he is since he is in DW guild, how is dye NPC suposed to kill him anyway.

OK for those not following along.

I made this suggestion because, There are two people in my guild who can key people. It is just by coincidance that we have not seen each other in a couple days.

It made me think however on the many other players we have in the guild with multiple toons. How can we best get them keyed if neither key generator is on-line.

As for how you could get keyed, you get a player from your guild to let you in and then you go get a key. Very simple. You need not have a key generator to let someone in.

I do understand the problems this could cause if some players want to cheat and make an illegally tagged toon. Yes it could happen. I think they would be found out and hey BAN them for even the first infraction of this.

It was just a suggestion. By the way, If anyone else has this happen, just have someone (Anyone in same faction or allied faction) come and stand in the guild hall while you change toons. Then you can both walk out. I have to thank Geran -BB- for coming to my aide. Thanks man!

TSS recently posted a request to have a keygen mule which was approved by Mentarch. I've been mulling this around in my head for a while now to see if there is any potential for abuse. I'll think about it some more...

DCN uses a Public account which has a Key Generator on it. So any DCN member can log into the Public account to be able to key the individual in question. Since you have to ask a specific member to help you if they don't know the player in question they aren't going to swap accounts to give you a key. This system has worked fairly well since I am not always available when the rest of the guild is on.

I think I saw somewhere that nsreal is connected to a mysql db. Idealy the could be a system where guild masters could add loginnames to the db, and toons from that player that is propperly taged could get key from a common guildmaster. Put him in ave, so you'll need only one. The tag and alowance identifies what guild key he should be getting.

direct db access for guild masters? there are *so* many things wrong with that suggestion...

it amazes me how such a simple thing is turned into these complex solutions.....this is equivilant to a massive governmental buearocracy with miles and miles of red tape.

simply: get a key from either:

A. Guildmaster
B. Guild Stewarts w/ keygenerator access
C. or - take MLokis suggestion and make a public Keygen.

if your having that hard a time getting a hold of someone in your guild to key, you maybe your guild should consider promoting someone who is more acitive?

and besides that , if you are a guildleader of any sort, i would assume you check the boards at least once a day.....your members could easily PM you if they are in need of a key, etc.......

another idea would be to set up a personal guildforum too :wink:\

---- lets not make extra work for the devs :shock: ...nwn2 release is 6 days away, i am sure they are devoting alot of their free time to that project at the moment as to get the best head start possible.

the public keygen is the most effective way IMO you still need another guild member to get keyed but atleast its on another login and not the one you play with
