Misc suggestions / feedback

Post by sldsmkd »

Paladin / CoT feats:

Is it possible to perhaps double the duration of Divine Might / Divine Shield / Divine Wrath to 2 * Cha Mod turns? I never actually run out of turn undead attempts before other buffs stop dropping, but they are annoying to continually recast - particularly in a group where you have to stop and rebuff them all the time then try to catch up your hasted group mates at a Paladin plod. It would also be nice if Wrath worked as an ability and wasn't subject to concentration failure, don't know if thats possible tho.

Itemization:

Boots. Looking at the Wiki all (or most of the high end boots) are loaded with Dex. It would be nice if there were some competitive armors that allowed slightly more dex bonus, like a +2 or +3 - or some more boot options focussed at plate wearers that focussed more on AC than dexterity. (If I find a +2 dex book i'll be able to wear the +4 stuff, but the itemisation seems lacking for this compared to full plate). All classes do benefit from the reflex saves they offer tho.

Gloves/Bracers. Again this seems a bit lacking, with the majority of gear being geared towards monks. The choices are limited for other classes, the best i've found on the wiki was +6str with some AC thats useless as it doesn't stack with the AC that all equivalent armor of the level has, and some skills that I don't use.

Helms are I think okay, tho I don't see any real progression from my Amazon helm as it has some bonuses to two of my key skills, the AC again is semi useless because it's deflection and doesn't stack with rings/cloaks. I don't use the Int, but /shrug a lot of classes do.

Cloaks are I think good, i'm +cha based anyway, and the generic +cha template cloak seems fine - although the deflection doesn't stack with the helms. I think there are some nice resistance options for none cha based characters so thats fine, don't know if those scale to the higher levels.

Belts & Amulets are in great shape - and every class can benefit from the will/fort/regen saves that they offer.

Rings are good also, they aren't great but there seems to be one with a combination of skills that suits just about every build.

Skills:

I've pumped a ton of points into Spot, and it hasn't been that useful. don't think it's ever been high enough to see a sneaker of equivalent level, and it doesn't see invisible people. It would be good if it saw through lower level invisibilities or mitigated concealment bonuses. From what I read listen is superior, but haven't tested it.

1. Boots ::: there are nice boots already available...there are 3/8 boots and 5/5/5 boots available at level 30 : translation 3ac/8dex and 5ac/5dex/5reflex save ....the 5ac boots appeal to armor wearers and the dex boots are great for mages, monks, etc....

2. Gloves::: there are +8 str gloves to be found (lvl 30 ) as well as +7 str for level 25....monk gloves also have a VERY nice glove to wear at level30....drops somewhere off some boss in some plane  careful not to drown.....

3. helms ::: check out the alzara crown and the divers helm :)

4. Problems with spot? solution : gear and EPIC spell Focus !

Go with listen. Works well against invisible people and HIPSers.

I'll keep an eye out for them, just going on what I saw on the wiki and have seen in game - haven't seen all of it by a long shot as i'm still on my first char and about to hit 30.

It's just positive feedback, (well apart from the divine X duration anyway), all in all - i'm loving the game and the world and it's by far the best crafted NWN PW i've played - with the best crowd of players.

It's not a huge deal, as I have a faction clicky that grants trueseeing, just pointing out i dont think my spot has ever spotted anything ever, it's at around 45 atm (skill + wis + helm).

Was in a group where one of those dropped, everyone else was pretty geared but for me it wasn't any better than the Amazon hat I already have - helms all in all are pretty balanced, and i dont really have a problem with them. If a divers helm drops for me will grab it for situational use :) The amazon helm has +spot and +taunt which are two of my key skills so i'm happy with it (tho i dont like the deer horns!)

you can get helms that give limited See Invis and True Sight uses. Available from Avendell in fact. The problem of course is knowing the invisible person is there to begin with.
